‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Gets Animated For New Disney Project
“Weird Al” Yankovic voices the lead role for Disney XD’s newest animated series Milo Murphy’s Law, which is set to premiere on October 3. Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh of Phineas and Ferb fame are the creators and executive producers of the new adventure comedy series which follows 13-year-old Milo, the fictional distant relative of the original Murphy’s Law namesake. As you would expect for Milo, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
In addition to playing Milo, Al Yankovic wrote and sang the show’s theme song (which can heard below) as well as other songs to be featured later in the series.
At age 56, Al Yankovic is still as young as he can be and is still on top of his game. He appeared as a singing monk for the two short seasons of ABC’s Galavant and won a Grammy for Best Comedy Album for his 2014 “Mandatory Fun,” which was also his first No. 1 record, reports Inforum.
“It blew my mind. Having a No. 1 album was something I didn’t dare to hope for because I thought it was beyond the realm of possibility,” Yankovic says. “Comedy albums don’t go to No. 1 anymore. The last time that happened was in 1963, during the Kennedy administration. It was something that was not in the cards for me. When it happened, it was a very emotional week for me. It was beyond my wildest dreams.”
Joining Al Yankovic for Milo Murphy’s Law are the voice talents of Sabrina Carpenter and MeKai Curtis playing the roles of Milo’s friends Melissa and Zack. Povenmire and Marsh will also get into the act themselves providing voices for “pistachio protectors from the universe” Vinnie Dakota and Balthazar Cavendish. The two’s former project Phineas and Ferb was a huge hit for the Disney Channel, lasting four seasons with 222 different episodes.
