A Zayn Malik Autobiography? Sources Say It Will Be A Tell-All, But Tell What?

Zayn Malik, formerly of One Direction, is rumored in the UK press to be writing an autobiography. It is being touted as a shocking tell-all book. Somehow, though, despite the strong reputation of these UK publications, the rumor, at least as it is being presented, is a bit hard to imagine.

One Direction and Simon Cowell are horrified by what might be in the autobiography according to The Daily Mail. It seems that an unnamed source told the generally very reliable UK publication, Zayn is writing an autobiography, and Simon Cowell really wasn’t going to like it.

“This book is going to be explosive and Simon will be furious with Zayn and may even try to stop it coming out. But Zayn is determined to reveal the secrets behind the clean image that was always so fiercely protected by the band’s publicity machine.”

Zayn Malik writing a book, content aside, seems odd. The first question that comes to mind immediately is when would he find the time to write an autobiography? Why not make a video or write a song instead? He’s a pretty busy guy, and he spends every spare moment with Gigi Hadid. Why would anyone sacrifice time with a beautiful model who is very intelligent and sweet as well as beautiful, to write a book?

Alternatively, the One Direction singer could just interview with a professional writer and the pro could handle the mechanics of putting his ideas in a book. Otherwise, it could take up months, perhaps a year of his valuable time. Hanging out with Gigi Hadid would be more fun, so it is hard to imagine Zayn, all alone with a scowl on his face, hold up in a room somewhere, typing out a scathing expose about his friends on a laptop.

If Zayn Malik is writing an autobiography, the big question is, what would he say in this alleged book and about whom will he say it. According to The Daily Mail’s unidentified source, the autobiography will be a tell-all, but what exactly would he say that might be shocking. In interviews with the press Malik usually, talks about music, his own emotions, Gigi Hadid, and the fact he misses the guys from One Direction.

Simon Cowell being angry doesn’t make sense to Austrailia Network News who also carried the story. The writer there wonders about the anonymous comments considering the previously good relationship between Zayn and Mr. Cowell,

“There has been no bad blood between Cowell and Malik since the latter exited One Direction. In fact, Cowell was all praises for Malik.”

Gigi Hadid would be a huge part of any story Zayn Malik writes, as a very upbeat topic. He would never say anything bad about her. The Daily Mail‘s source alleges, though, that Zayn’s autobiography would include a lot about his previous relationship with Perrie Edwards. That has not exactly been one of his favorite interview topics since his relationship with Hadid. Why would he want to talk about that now?

One Direction, according to The Daily Mail, is horrified at the thought of Malik writing a tell-all. Why would they worry? Mr. Malik has never said a word against the other boys in 1D. Generally, he works to put down negative rumors and even wants a reunion with them someday, according to Billboard. He always speaks positively about Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne. Why would he turn on them?

That said, Zayn Malik did a really long tell-all interview with The Fader in November of 2015. It was masterfully done, and in it, Zayn opens up about his childhood, his Muslim faith, his personal life and working with One Direction. If he was going to say something shocking, he would have probably said it then.

Some said Zayn Malik’s comments in The Fader were negative, and it was reported that Simon Cowell was offended by that and also an article in Billboard, but it was never really confirmed. Zay has been critical of management interfering in his personal life, his hair styles, and wardrobe in the name of the band’s branding and image, there was nothing personal there about anyone specific. Malik complained that he wanted to grow a beard and was not allowed to. It’s hardly earth shattering. Also, he’s made it very plain he doesn’t like pop music. That’s in agreement with over half the musicians out there. That’s why there are other genres of music. Malik likes R&B, and he wanted more adult content in his lyrics. Again that isn’t any sort of attack on anyone.

Zayn Malik’s autobiography, if there is one, would hopefully be a welcome source of information about his life, including his childhood, the band, his solo music, and of course, his love story with Gigi Hadid. One Direction, of course, would be part of the story, but more likely than criticism, there would be pleasant memories of the guys. That’s been the flavor of most of Malik’s interviews.

Whether Zayn Malik writes an autobiography or not is yet to be seen, but if so, it seems unlikely it would reveal anything shocking about Cowell or One Direction.
