Miranda Lambert is officially engaged, though the wedding won’t be in another 25 years!
The singer announced her engagement during a concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey over the weekend. Although she is currently dating Anderson East, Lambert revealed that someone else won her heart.
According to People , a 6-year-old fan asked Lambert to marry him and even gave her a pink ring to seal the deal.
“I said YES!” Lambert shared on Instagram .
“I got engaged today,” Lambert told fans at the event. “There’s a little 6-year-old boy somewhere here named Sebastian. He asked me to marry him and I said, ‘Yes, in 25 years.’”
Not only did Sebastian produce a ring, but he also got down on one knee to propose to the country star.
“When he came to my meet and greet, he got down on one knee and he was such a gentleman,” Lambert continued. “It may be my favorite proposal ever… ‘Cause girls, we deserve that. We deserve that.”
Lambert followed the news by singing her hit song from back in 2007, “Gunpowder and Lead.”
Apparently, Sebastian got backstage by tagging along with another fan, Sarah Goddard, who had purchased a meet and greet ticket.
“I told his mom he could come in with me ‘as my son’ so he could propose to Miranda himself,” Goddard shared. “He bought the ring himself … his mom said he’s been holding on to it since Christmas, waiting for an opportunity to propose to Miranda.”
According to the Huffington Post , Lambert is currently dating Anderson East. The pair has been together since December.
Miranda Lambert was married to Blake Sheltonbefore getting a divorce last summer, amid rumors of her infidelity.
Meanwhile, the Washington Post reports that Lambert is currently promoting her newest album in two years.
Lambert is on a summer tour with Kenny Chesney and took some time away from her busy schedule to talk about her life post-divorce and how things have changed in her music.
“Something did change even since I put Platinum out: I’m two years older – well, three years older from the writing for Platinum — and a lot more miles and a lot more emotions have happened since then,” Lambert shared. “… The songs I brought to the table, this time, were a step up for me. I grew as a songwriter. I grew as a woman. So I wanted that to be the lead and not let anything cover that up.” Lambert’s newest song, “Vice,” made fans wonder about her motivations for the track and whether or not it was a veiled reference to her divorce.
For Lambert, the track was simply about strong emotions and honesty.
“Just, I guess, make a strong emotion and putting it out there. That’s not something new for me as an artist. I’ve done that on every record I’ve ever made,” she admitted. “But I got a little bit more time, a little bit more reflection and a little more honesty on this one. Because I had a time in my life that wasn’t my favorite. And I’m not afraid to share it.”
Clearly, Lambert is still using her music to deal with everything in life, including her past breakups.
So far, it looks like Lambert’s approach is working. Not only does her music help cope with life, but she’s also won seven straight awards in Country Music.
At the same time, Lambert also has a fallback plan in 25 years if things don’t work out with East.
Lambert’s next stop in her tour is at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on Aug. 25. Tickets range from $45 to $125.
As for her ex, Blake Shelton, he is currently planning to wed his lady love Gwen Stefaniover Christmas. The loved-up duo has even gone so far as to hire a celebrity wedding planner to handle all the details.
A location for the wedding has yet to be announced.
Some fans claim that Lambert was trying to shade Blake and Gwen by announcing her “engagement” as their wedding news broke.
