It’s pretty clear that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are going to tie the knot at some point.
With Stefani’s wedding almost a done deal, one thing might stop her from exchanging vows with the country crooner: the prenuptial agreement.
In fact, OK! Magazine is reporting that Stefani is already planning for a heated battle with Shelton over the prenup.
Will Stefani call off the wedding if she and Shelton don’t come to an agreement?
“She’s already floated the idea of a prenup,” a source explained. “Gwen’s worth almost twice as much as Blake, and from her experience with Gavin, she knows she has to prepare for the worst.”
Stefani went through a heartbreaking divorce with Gavin Rossdale after over ten years of marriage and three kids.
Given Stefani’s emotional split with the Bush rocker, she wants to take a hard line with Shelton even though she’s head over heels.
“What happened before has hardened her,” the insider added. [Stefani does] not want to make the same mistakes.”
According to Celeb Buzz , Stefani’s fortune is around $100 million and she wants Shelton to sign off on a cheating penalty that would pay her $3 million if he was ever unfaithful.
Shelton was reportedly surprised by Stefani’s demands, though it isn’t clear how it will affect the wedding plans in the future.
Despite the tough negotiations ahead, the couple is more than ready to take their relationship to the next level.
“Everyone can see how happy they are,” the insider continued. “Gwen has told friends she doesn’t suit being single and is ready to start the next chapter.”
Hollywood Life is even reporting that Stefani is seeking out special advice on how to properly handle the prenup.
Apparently, the No Doubt frontwoman asked her good friend Gwyneth Paltrow about planning a good prenup.
Paltrow just broke up with Chris Martin and because of their prenup, avoided a drawn-out divorce process.
The actress allegedly told Stefani to work out as many details as possible while her relationship with Blake Shelton is still strong. She even advised her friend to hold “marriage summits” every year to hash out their goals.
“[Stefani and Shelton] agreed to keep their finances separate and if they have a baby, to divide assets and custody fairly,” an insider revealed.
That being said, none of these reports have been verified by Stefani or Shelton, leaving fans to wonder what is happening behind the scenes and when the wedding will actually take place.
Unfortunately, one source close to the couple cautioned fans that Stefani isn’t in a hurry to get hitched.
Does this mean they will put the wedding off until next year?
Indeed, Shelton has not popped the big question yet, though that might change in the near future.
According to Hall of Fame Magazine , it’s only a matter of time before the country star asks Stefani to marry him.
“They are not engaged yet,” the insider explained. “Everyone is expecting it to happen at some point, though.”
For now, both Shelton and Stefani are too busy for a wedding.
Stefani is currently on tour for her latest album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like , which isn’t going to end until later this month.
As far as Shelton is concerned, he is currently getting ready for another season of The Voice and is also expected to launch a tour of his own this coming fall.
With so many things on their plates, it doesn’t look like a wedding will happen before the year is out.
Of course, given the heated nature of their romance, that could change in the blink of an eye.
