Rosie O’Donnell Celebrates Reuniting With Daughter Chelsea With Sweet Photo
Rosie O’Donnell is celebrating the new relationship she has with formerly estranged daughter Chelsea O’Donnell. In a photo the TV personality chose to share, the two are pictured side by side with Chelsea beaming next to her mother.
Posting the photo on Instagram, Rosie wrote, “Chelsea and me – what a difference a year makes.”
The caption is simple but means there has been an enormous shift in O’Donnell’s relationship with Chelsea.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Rosie and daughter Chelsea reunited. As the Inquisitr reported via TMZ, the two made their first public appearance together in over a year in June. The two reunited at an NYC benefit for cancer, and it looks like things are slowly but surely mending between the two.

Things between the two escalated when Chelsea ran away from her Long Island home to be with her much older boyfriend in New Jersey. Chelsea met her then-boyfriend, 25-year-old Steven Sheerer, online and lived with him for a short while. While they were on the outs, O’Donnell warned people on her social media accounts that Sheerer has a sketchy past as a heroin dealer and that her daughter was mentally ill.
While O’Donnell didn’t disclose any information about her daughter Chelsea’s illness, Chelsea did hit back against Rosie by publicly talking about what it was like to grow up with O’Donnell for a mother.
Chelsea gave an interview to Inside Edition and said, “Some of the things that have happened in the last few months I can’t get over or forgive her for. Kicking me out of the house, putting it out that I’m mentally unstable. I care about her and I hope she’s doing well. But love is a big word and I wouldn’t really use that.”
Chelsea also slammed Rosie O’Donnell to the Daily Mail, saying that she’s not a genuine person.
“I find her not genuine a lot of the time. When we’d go out, she was a completely different person in public than at home and I had a hard time with that. It’s like two different people.”
While growing up, Chelsea alleged that Rosie would stay inside, which meant it was hard to go outside as kids.
“Rosie would prefer to stay home and watch her shows and kind of do her thing. But on the weekends, my siblings and I would want to go out. My sister [Vivienne] would want to go to the mall or I’d want to get coffee. Rosie wouldn’t want to drive us but there was always someone there to help.”
O’Donnell didn’t directly respond to the claims, but Rosie’s rep told Us Weekly the claims were “heartbreaking on every level.”
We don’t exactly know when the two reunited, but back in October, it was apparent that Chelsea O’Donnell wasn’t on great terms with her adoptive mother Rosie. At the time, Chelsea made the following statement.
“I don’t want to come off rude, that is not my intention. However, I have asked not to be brought into any Rosie drama and that I don’t want to hear anything about her. I would appreciate it if anyone who is tagging me or asking me questions about her would please stop. Thank you.”
Then, in November, while Rosie was supported by her children at a red carpet event, O’Donnell pointed out that Chelsea was missing from the special night.
“Yes, all of my kids except Chelsea [are here], which is sad, but hopefully, there will come a day when she’ll want to come.”

From the looks of it, Chelsea and Rosie have finally found a middle ground.
