Kendall And Kylie Jenner Fight For Spotlight Explodes With Help From Jaden Smith And ‘Vogue’
Kendall Jenner is basking in the spotlight of her supermodel success, and her younger sister Kylie Jenner, despite her own achievements as a cosmetics business owner, isn’t too happy about it. Consequently, the sibling rivalry between the Jenner sisters is causing problems, according to Hollywood Life‘s insider.
Their latest spat began when Kylie discovered that she was losing the spotlight to Kendall at a time when she thought she deserved it most, and that was during her birthday celebration. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians supermodel scored the cover of Vogue, and her major achievement occurred just when Kylie was anticipating becoming the center of attention for turning 19. Consequently, the younger Jenner is feeling competitive and jealous, according to the insider.
“Kylie is happy for Kendall but that doesn’t mean there isn’t jealousy, there’s always going to be competition.”
Jenner reportedly has written nabbing the cover of Vogue on her own bucket list, making it even more difficult for her to watch her older sister gloat over the glory of her top model success.
“Kylie would love nothing more than to have her own cover of Vogue, so it’s tough that her birthday celebration has turned into being all about Kendall and her cover, it totally stole the spotlight from her,” added the source. And the rivalry didn’t stop when Jenner finished celebrating her birthday. While Kendall starred in the feature on the cover, Kylie flaunted her own ability as a model inside the pages of the popular fashion magazine, noted Teen Vogue.
The fashion spread, entitled “Making the Cut,” featured eight celebrities, ranging from Kylie to Willow and Jaden Smith. Although Jenner likes to flaunt more relaxed styles on Instagram, the 19-year-old showed that she could compete in her sister’s high fashion world with a glittery, glamorous style and pose.
The 19-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star almost lost the spotlight, however, to her accessory of a Cartier bracelet. That jewelry ranks as her most famous accessory, soaring to become Google’s most-searched designer jewelry item, so Kylie apparently decided it was the perfect time for a repeat. But while Kylie reigned on the inside pages, it was Kendall’s appearance on the cover of the magazine that stole the spotlight on Instagram.
However, some of the fashion publication’s fans were not impressed with the choice of Kendall, and their responses may cause Kylie to re-think her reported desire to get the cover feature herself.
“Don’t like,” attacked one of the magazine’s followers. “Miss… the real fashion magazine without kardashian people, Instagram models. Please bring back VOGUE…I will never buy another Vogue magazine… Bring back real models and real fashion designers.”
Some issued warnings about avoiding the issue completely.
“So disappointed. I always look forward to the September issue of Vogue. However, I will NOT be purchasing this issue,” wrote one angry fan regarding the issue featuring the Jenner sisters.
But Kylie received compliments from her own fans when she shared her photo in the fashion bible.
“You are my idol and inspiration…I love you so much and I wish I could meet you one day xx I LOVE YOU,” gushed one such admirer.
As for the celebrities sharing the issue with the Jenner sisters, Jaden Smith modeled a uni-sex, over-sized sweater and shirt duo in a classic style combination. Smith also posted his image on Instagram.
This isn’t the first time, however, that Jaden has made an appearance in the fashion publication. Smith was saluted for his ability to steal the spotlight himself with his “gender-bending looks,” pointed out Teen Vogue.
Among Jaden’s style claims to fame are his passion for sporting skirts over leggings and displaying gender fluidity by opting for a dress rather than pants.
