WWE News: Eva Marie Suspended, Becomes Third WWE Star Suspended This Week

It has been a crazy week in the WWE when it comes to drug testing and suspensions based on the wellness policy. After Alberto Del Rio and Paige had been suspended yesterday for failing drug tests, WWE.com reported today that Eva Marie, real name Natalie Coyle, has also been suspended for a failed test as well. Just like Del Rio and Paige, this was Eva Marie’s first violation of the company’s wellness policy.

On the top of the news, it is almost humorous to hear about Eva Marie’s suspension just three days before she was supposed to wrestle at SummerSlam on Sunday. The reason for the humor is that Eva Marie’s new gimmick has been to avoid wrestling at all costs as she returns to the main WWE roster.

Eva Marie was drafted to the WWE Smackdown Live brand, which some fans hated since NXT superstar Bayley was not drafted at all. However, the reason for Eva Marie joining Smackdown Live became apparent the first time she appeared. She has an over-the-top entrance video with a voice over announcer the WWE suspended Alberto Del Rio and Paige her up and still hasn’t wrestled yet.

Even though Becky Lynch and Natalya are better in-ring performers, the new gimmick makes Eva Marie one of the most entertaining females in the WWE right now. The company is also playing it smart by keeping her out of the ring right now.

This has been accomplished by Eva Marie feigning injuries and more to keep from wrestling. Her first match never took place because she feigned a leg injury. Her second match was called off when Eva Marie had a wardrobe malfunction before the match started. Her third match never happened when her announcer said Eva Marie was stuck in traffic and couldn’t get to the arena on time.

Now, Eva Marie’s fourth match won’t happen either. According to reports, Eva Marie was supposed to team up with Natalya and Alexa Bliss to battle Becky Lynch, Carmella, and Naomi at Summerslam this weekend. Thanks to the fact that Eva Marie’s suspended, that will not happen now. It seems that real life has added another wrinkle to what was at first an Eva Marie storyline.

As mentioned, the news that Eva Marie’s suspended comes just one day after the Inquisitr reported that the WWE suspended Alberto Del Rio and Paige. That suspension came on Paige’s birthday, and one has to wonder if the failed drug test was for recreational drugs considering the closeness to Paige’s birthday.

There are other problems with the Del Rio and Paige suspension since the two are a couple and the WWE tried to drive a stake between the two wrestlers when they have drafted them to different brands in the WWE Draft. Alberto Del Rio was rumored to be leaving the WWE — and Paige is injured badly, and her return is questionable. Del Rio’s suspension could delay him leaving if that is what he wants to do.

With Eva Marie suspended, the WWE has put three of their stars on the shelf just when they are trying to rebuild the two separate brands, WWE Monday Night Raw and Smackdown Live. While Eva Marie has never made her in-ring debut since returning to the main roster, she remained one of the most intriguing women stars on Smackdown Live. Yes, the WWE can use this as part of their storyline of Eva Marie not wanting to wrestle, it is still a big loss to lose her from WWE television for the next 30 days.
