Nina Dobrev Returning To ‘Vampire Diaries’ Leaves Ian Somerhalder ‘Furious,’ Plans To Avoid Ex-Girlfriend?
Nina Dobrev’s return to The Vampire Diaries is almost official — that’s if the actress can work out a schedule that’ll allow her to continue with her hectic career out in Hollywood.
According to reports, CW President Mark Pedowitz confirmed reports at the Television Critics Association that TVD executives have been in talks to get Nina back for the final series. Julie Plec, in particular, has been very vocal in wanting Dobrev back to conclude the series the right way, stressing that the 27-year-old made her a promise that she wouldn’t miss being with the cast for the finale.
Julie’s comments were rather vague since fans were left puzzled as to whether she was referring to Nina returning for an entire series, or whether the actress would only reprise her role as Elena Gilbert for several episodes.

Either way, Mark has made it clear that Nina is wanted back for the majority of the series if she can fit their filming hours into her current schedule that sees her filming another movie out in California.
Celeb Dirty Laundry reveals that the chances of Nina Dobrev returning to The Vampire Diaries seem very likely, which will evidently leave Ian Somerhalder furious. The outlet claims that Ian has been very much against Nina’s return to the show, even going as far as to claim that Dobrev coming back could put a strain on his crumbling marriage with Nikki Reed.
Ian Somerhalder allegedly thinks that ending the final series is better without Nina Dobrev, a strong statement that has left TVD fans stunned and rather saddened. CDL stresses that, while Ian attempted to stop Nina’s return from happening, executive producer Julie Plec couldn’t care less about Somerhalder’s feelings regarding Dobrev’s return to the show; he doesn’t call the shots, she does.
“Now it’s official, the president of the network doesn’t care, showrunner Julie Plec doesn’t care, no one cares about Ian’s needs or wants,” the outlet claims. “Ian made no secret of the fact that Nina isn’t welcome back — at least not by Ian — for the final season of The Vampire Diaries.”

Fans are still urged to remember that nothing has been inked just yet, the Parent Herald affirms. Nina Dobrev is still in talks with Julie and her former crew in the hopes that they can come to an agreement that will make sense for both parties.
Pedowitz did stress at the TCAs that if plans fall through with Nina Dobrev, Plec has already planned out an alternative option that will leave fans satisfied either way. Still, everyone is just hoping that Nina will sign on and make her anticipated return.
Last month, it was claimed that Ian’s marriage with Nikki Reed had been hitting several rough patches, so much that the news of Nina’s Vampire Diaries comeback would only worsen his relationship with the Twilight star, it was claimed at the time.

Nikki and Nina allegedly didn’t get along with one another before Dobrev’s announcement that she was leaving the show last year. And it certainly didn’t help that Nina’s fans would attack Reed on her social media platforms, leaving Somerhalder to address the situation on Twitter on multiple occasions, demanding for people to respect his relationship with the supposed love of his life.
What do you make of Nina Dobrev’s return to the show? And do you think Ian has any right to be angry about his ex-girlfriend making a possible comeback for the final series?
