Nina Dobrev’s Return To ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Confirmed! Celebrate With Delena’s Top Ten Best Moments

Nina Dobrev is heading back to The Vampire Diaries in Season 8!

While fans are still processing Dobrev’s return to the show’s final season, here’s a look at Elena’s top ten moments with Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

While Stefan (Paul Wesley) blew it with Elena back in Season 1, International Business Times reports that Damon was there to rescue her at the Miss Mystic Falls gala.

The dance that ensued was memorable and fully kicked off the Delena movement.

The hottest and arguably most romantic moment for Delena was when Elena finally told Damon how she felt at the end of Season 4.

“In death, you’re the one that made me feel the most alive,” she told him. “You’ve been a terrible person… I’m not sorry I’m in love with you. I love you, Damon.”

After Elena’s confession, the Season 5 premiere was basically one makeout scene followed by another, which went over great with most fans.

According to Wet Paint, this included a montage of how Delena spent the summer, and Elena’s emotional goodbye before heading off to college. It may have been their honeymoon period, but there’s little doubt fans miss the romance.

In Season 2, Elena was back with Stefan, but that didn’t prevent Damon from feeding her his blood and making her a vampire.

Although Stefan and Elena were unhappy with Damon, his decision was bold and romantic and may have saved Elena’s life.

By the time Season 3 came along, Damon’s romance with Elena was closer to becoming a reality.

In episode 19, the two spent the night together in a motel while Stefan was out of town. The ensuing scene included a sexy moment with a bare-chested Damon holding hands with Elena in bed.

According to Hollywood Life, fans had to wait four years before Damon and Elena kissed, but when they did, the wait was all worth the time and trouble.

Elena had just become a vampire, and Damon was her only confidant. The kiss happened after the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, and the sex that followed was the show’s hottest ever.

Apart from their physical intimacy, Damon and Elena were at their best during their heart to heart discussions. Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev were a couple off-screen as well, which could explain their intense onscreen chemistry.

She promised to love Damon after she turned human, while Damon told her, once again, that he would take the cure and become human too.

Of course, not all Delena moments were strictly between them.

When Elena went off into the woods in search of Stefan, Damon went with her. Not only did he save her from a pack of werewolves, but he solidified his love in the process.

Not only did Elena get loads of money after finishing college, but she also regained her humanity and had an intense makeout session with Damon. Definitely a win for Elena (and fans).

Speaking of Elena’s college days, Damon was there to make sure she got through them without too much trouble. This included the time he showed up at the Whitmore College Mixer as Henry VIII and plenty of hot and steamy scenes by the fireplace.

Although their lives were far from normal, their days in college made it seem as if they were a normal couple.

Fortunately, there is a possibility that Damon and Elena will re-ignite their former love together and end up happily ever after.

Fans can watch Nina Dobrev’s highly-anticipated return as Season 8 of The Vampire Diaries is scheduled to premiere Oct. 21.
