‘Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ Zombies Goes 80s With Break Dancing, The Hoff, And Pee-Wee Herman

The Call of Duty franchise has steadily been ramping up the absurdity in the popular Zombies mode, as witnessed by the latest release featuring giant dragons and mechs. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is going the full comedy route with Zombies in Spaceland announced Tuesday at Gamescom, featuring Pee-Wee Herman, David Hasselhoff, and lots of 80s pop culture.

Zombies in Spaceland features four aspiring actors who head to a movie audition hosted by director Willard Wyler, played by Paul Reubens (aka Pee-Wee Herman). Wyler transforms them into characters based on 80s archetypes, including the jock from The Breakfast Club, the nerd from Revenge of the Nerds, the Run DMC-like rapper, and the valley girl from Valley Girl. He then transports them into one of his own horror films set in a space-themed amusement park from the 80s.

The four characters will have some help while they attempt to survive in the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare zombie apocalypse. The Hoff, David Hasselhoff himself, plays a mysterious DJ in the theme park who will provide assistance to players as they attempt to survive.

In case it wasn’t clear Infinity Ward is playing Zombies in Spaceland for laughs, the four main characters are all played by comedic actors. Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Powers), Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors, Suicide Squad), Jay Pharoah (Saturday Night Live, Ride Along), and Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer) will provide the bulk of the voice work.

Pharoh will host a live stream reveal of Zombies in Spaceland for Infinity Ward on Wednesday, August 17 at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT. Those interested can catch it on the official Call of Duty channels for Twitch, YouTube, and even Facebook.

Those who pre-order any edition of Call of Duty: infinite Warfare will receive the “Zombies in Spaceland Pack” containing in-game digital items like a unique zombies weapon camo, a zombies weapon reticle, an animated zombies calling card, and the Fate & Fortune card pack. A re-imagined version of the “Terminal” multiplayer map will also be included.

Call of Duty and zombies in particular has such an incredible history with passionate fans, which inspired us to take all the co-op action that has made the series so great and fuse it with one of our favorite decades in pop culture: the ’80s,” said Brian Bright, Project Director at Infinity Ward. “Zombies in Spaceland is an all-new zombies experience where day-glow meets fright nights. It’s accessible for new players, but also has a deep layer of progression, brimming with easter eggs and various game features that will be a blast for hardcore zombies fans. We can’t wait for fans to go hands-on this fall.”
