‘The Vampire Diaries’ To End With Salvatore Deaths? Check What Paul Wesley And Ian Somerhalder Want In ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 8 [Video]

There are many theories over who will return and what will happen in The Vampire Diaries Season 8. During San Diego Comic-Con 2016, Clevver News was lucky enough to get interviews with each of the cast members at the fan-centered weekend and asked about the ending. Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder both had similar opinions over the way it all should end.

Wesley went on the record to say that he isn’t too sure over whether it should be an abstract or a finite ending. He would like to see both, but he does want one thing to come out of The Vampire Diaries Season 8. He would like to see the Salvatores die in the end. They have been on the Earth for so long that it is time they were killed or chose to die in some way.

Somerhalder mimicked those thoughts, but shared in more detail how it should happen. He thinks the brothers should go to the Bahamas and spend a last night together. They spend their time drinking rum until the sun comes up. Just before it does, the brothers would drink to each other, hug, and take their rings off. Once they throw their rings into the ocean, the sun comes up and they die in a blaze of glory.

While it seems like a finite ending and will ensure Mystic Falls doesn’t have to deal with any “cradle robbing,” as Somerhalder put it, this ending isn’t likely to happen. Both brothers have ties to Mystic Falls right now.

During the interviews, Candice King also spoke about Steroline end game. It has been the big question for many fans: will the two end up getting their June wedding? King says that it is possible, but right now Caroline needs to compartmentalize everything. She has a family life separate from her love life. She also has to deal with the supernatural life.

Chances are that while Caroline is still in his life, Stefan won’t choose to end his life. However, Klaroline fans—those who ship Caroline and Klaus—would like her to give up her life with Stefan and move to New Orleans to be with Klaus. Some fans would like to see her help Hayley save him and the rest of the Mikaelsons.

At the same time, there are chances that Nina Dobrev will return to The Vampire Diaries Season 8. Even if she doesn’t, there are slim chances that Damon will give up a chance to be with her again, so wouldn’t exactly choose to die. He has too many selfish character traits to give up on his chance of happiness with her.

With all that in mind, Damon and Stefan are likely to die in The Vampire Diaries through a fight. They may choose to sacrifice themselves, possibly to try and save each other, but they’re not going to choose to just end it all on a beach in the Bahamas. The only way the Bahamas scene could happen is if Elena and Caroline are both gone and the brothers decide it is time to end it all.

It is worth pointing out that this isn’t the first time Wesley has said he wants the Salvatores to die in the ending of The Vampire Diaries. Hollywood Life reported that he had said he wanted to see this The Vampire Diaries ending. He always wanted to see Elena turn human again, which has happened. This was from January 2015, so the thought process on how The Vampire Diaries should end has been a major thought for him.

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premieres on October 21. It is the final season, so how would you like to see it end?
