Zayn Malik To Expose ‘Every Intimate Detail’ About One Direction Bandmates In Explosive Tell-All Book
Zayn Malik is allegedly planning to write and release an “explosive” tell-all book about what life was really like in One Direction.
Zayn, who sensationally quit the boy band in 2015, is reportedly ready to spill the beans on what it was really like to be a part of the famous fivesome, and it sounds like he won’t be holding back in his new book.
According to The Mail on Sunday, Malik will be telling “every intimate detail” about his five years in One Direction alongside former bandmates Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson and could also spill secrets that manager Simon Cowell may prefer to keep under wraps.
“This book is going to be explosive and Simon Cowell will be furious with Zayn and may even try to stop it coming out,” a source told the newspaper of how the America’s Got Talent judge feels about Zayn getting seriously candid about his One Direction days.
However, it sounds like Malik isn’t too worried about the former American Idol judge putting a stop to his One Direction book.“Zayn is determined to reveal the secrets behind the clean image that was always so fiercely protected by the band’s publicity machine,” the Zayn insider admitted.
Zayn and his former One Direction bandmates are yet to comment on the “explosive” tell-all book reports, though Malik hasn’t been shy about the fact that he wasn’t exactly comfortable with his time in the band in the past.
Speaking to Fadar last year, just months after he sensationally quit One Direction after five years in the band, Malik blasted One Direction’s music as being “generic as f***.”
“If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself,” Malik said, “it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f***, so they could use that version.”
Zayn Malik then continued to slam One Direction’s biggest hits, including “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Best Song Ever” and “Drag Me Down,” claiming that the songs just weren’t him.
“I wasn’t 100 percent behind the music. It wasn’t me,” said Malik. “It was music that was already given to us, and we were told this is what is going to sell to these people,” Zayn continued, claiming that making packaged pop “felt weird” to him.
“As much as we were the biggest, most famous boy band in the world, it felt weird. We were told to be happy about something that we weren’t happy about,” Malik admitted of how he, Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall were controlled.
Zayn also revealed why he quit One Direction in the 2015 Fadar interview, revealing that he’s now ready to make the music he wants to make.“A big part of why I left the band is I made the realization that it wasn’t actually about [being the biggest] anymore,” Malik told the magazine.
“It wasn’t about the amount of tickets sales that I get. It was more about the people that I reach. I want to reach them in the right way, and I want them to believe what I’m saying,” Zayn continued. “I’ve done enough in terms of financial backing for me to live comfortably. I just want to make music now.”
But that wasn’t the only time Zayn put One Direction and his former bandmates on blast. In a separate interview with Beats 1 back in January, Malik admitted that he actually wanted to leave the band as early as one year after they formed on Britain’s The X Factor in 2010.
“I think I always kind of wanted to go. From like the first year really, I never really wanted to be there in the band,” Malik said according to Billboard. “I just gave it a go because it was there at the time.”
