‘The Walking Dead’ Season 7: Will Daryl Dixon Convince Dwight To Switch Sides? [Spoilers]
The Walking Dead Season 7 will not premiere on AMC for a few more months. However, there are still spoilers and theories circulating the Internet. One speculation that some TWD fans have is that Dwight might turn away from Negan and the Saviors. Could Daryl Dixon convince him to switch sides?
There are possible spoilers and theories for The Walking Dead Season 7 below. If you do not want to know what could happen on the zombie apocalypse TV show, then stop reading.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, TWD filming reports teased that Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) will be spending a lot of time at the Sanctuary. For those that don’t know, it is the home base of the Saviors. In fact, there are rumors that Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors kidnap Daryl after killing one of Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) group members.
If the rumors are true, then that means Daryl will be spending a lot of time with the Saviors, including Dwight (Austin Amelio). As fans recall, Daryl and Dwight don’t have the best history. However, could the Savior end up switching sides? If so, will Daryl be the one to convince him he is playing on the wrong team?
In Robert Kirkman’s comic books, Dwight does end up switching sides. However, it has nothing to do with Daryl since the character doesn’t exist in the comics. Looking at The Spoiling Dead Fans Facebook page over the past few months, there were clues that there are some scenes involving a car chase. According to one fan’s comment on the spoiler site, this actually happens in the comics when one of the Saviors tries to escape.
Looking at Dwight’s character in The Walking Dead TV show, he can be brutal and sneaky. However, he doesn’t seem to be too much of an independent thinker. Being part of Negan and the Saviors is the life he has found himself in. He follows orders and gets to live, even though Negan did punish him by slamming the side of his face with an iron. Not too many men would put up with that.
As for Daryl Dixon, he is more of a lone wolf, even though he is part of Rick’s group. The Walking Dead character is independent and makes his own decisions, whether others like it or not. If he spends a lot of time with Dwight in the Sanctuary, he could talk some sense into him.
Rick and Negan are similar in a lot of ways but run their groups quite differently. Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character rules with an iron fist, takes what he wants, and doles out severe punishment for anyone who questions his authority. Rick would never physically hurt a member of his group unless they betrayed him or did something unforgivable. His decisions might be questionable, but he views the members of his group as family. Dwight and his girlfriend would have a much happier and better life in Alexandria. However, he needs to be redeemed first, and the battle against Negan must be won.
In The Walking Dead comic books, Dwight carries a lot of guilt over his actions. However, during the battle against Negan, Dwight gives some information to Rick about the Saviors. As ComicBook pointed out, he even spares Rick Grimes at least once during the war. On the television show, he shot Daryl Dixon and killed Denise (Merritt Wever). Fans might think Rick would be crazy to trust Dwight. However, in the comic books, he proves himself. With Daryl putting some ideas in his head about doing the right thing, he may convince Austin Amelio’s character to turn against Negan.
What do you think of this theory? Could Dwight switch sides in Season 7? Will Daryl Dixon be the one to convince Dwight to join Team Alexandria on The Walking Dead?
