‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Return: Romance Is In The Cards For Nick, But Wait A Minute — Is That Gloria?

Nick Clark was the first character in AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead to discover the zombie apocalypse had begun when his girlfriend, Gloria, rose from the dead and tried to kill him. Since then, Nick has concentrated more on giving up drugs than wooing women, but could the Season 2 return see Nick involved with not one, but two women?

Nick Clark (Frank Dillane) left the core group of characters in the mid-season finale of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead. He was determined to branch out on his own, walking among the undead with blood smeared on himself as protection against the infected. But, recent Season 2 preview videos have shown Nick’s solitude is short-lived.

A recent Season 2 return video for Fear The Walking Dead showed Nick kissing Fear newcomer, Luciana (Danay Garcia), even though they appear to be in conflict at points during the same video. Luciana is a character who is a member of a group in Tijuana who have similar feelings about the infected to what Celia Flores (Marlene Forte) did in the first half of Season 2. It was her death that was the catalyst for Nick leaving his family in the Season 2 mid-season finale.

At one point in the video, Nick is held down by a member of Luciana’s group while she angrily asks, “What did you do?” However, we know from recent interviews at San Diego Comic-Con that Luciana will connect with Nick, but will also test him first to see if he proves worthy. So does Nick end up being “worthy” in Luciana’s eyes and that is why they are kissing? Or is the kiss a part of the test? Only by tuning into the Season 2 return of Fear the Walking Dead will reveal all.

However, it seems Nick will be kissing more than one woman in the Season 2 return of Fear the Walking Dead. Another Season 2 return video released prior to the video where Nick and Luciana kiss was a sneak peek into the remainder of Season 2, as well as a discussion by the cast and crew on what fans can expect. While romance for Nick was not mentioned by anyone, one very quick image at the start of the video showed Nick kissing a blonde woman. It is unclear yet who this woman is and what impact her character will have in Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead.

Could this woman somehow come between Nick and Luciana in Season 2 of Fear? Or, perhaps it is merely a flashback to before Gloria (Lexi Johnson) had died of a drug overdose and was reanimated.

The official synopsis for the Season 2 return of Fear the Walking Dead may also support the return of Gloria, albeit via a flashback.

“Nick’s steadfast search for answers leads him into a deadly dog-eat-dog landscape. A dark piece of his past is uncovered.”

Comparing images of the actress who played Gloria shows she has a freckle under her eye in the same location as shown in the image above. So could the Season 2 return show a flashback to Nick and Gloria in happier times before the zombie apocalypse hit, and will this flashback reveal a part of Nick fans previously didn’t know about?
