‘Suicide Squad’ Fan Suing Warner Bros. For ‘Falsely Advertising’ The Joker’s Role In Action Film
As many know by now, Suicide Squad has received poor reviews, which is a potential nightmare on Warner Bros’ end. The studio has so far unsuccessfully tried to relaunch its DC world. The studio was banking on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to launch the series, but between critics panning the film and fan response not being what was expected, Warner Bros is in a bit of a rut. Now, the studio, hypothetically speaking, might have a whole other headache to deal with.
According to Geek Nation, a fan, who was excited about seeing Jared Leto’s take on The Joker, is very upset with Warner Bros. The movie goer is now accusing Warner Bros of falsely advertising The Joker’s role. In the trailers, you’ll notice that Leto’s Joker is manically laughing and looking like he’s having a blast in bringing terror to the majority of the trailers that Warner Bros put out when they marketed Suicide Squad.
Well, a Reddit user is taking the complaint that there’s a lack of Joker in the film to another level. Not only is he accusing the studio of falsely advertising Suicide Squad, but the user has decided to sue Warner Bros. The fan in question seems to be particularly upset that the studio chose to cut significant scenes that were featured in trailers.
“Suicide Squad trailers showcased several SPECIFIC Joker scenes that I had to pay for the whole movie just so that I can go watch those SPECIFIC SCENES that WB/DC had advertised in their trailers and TV spots. These scenes are: When Joker banged his head on his car window, when Joker says, “let me show you my toys”, when Joker punches the roof of his car, when Joker drops a bomb with his face all messed up and says, “BYE BYE!”. Non of these scenes were in the movie.”

The Reddit user and avid Joker fan claims that he drove 300 miles to see the film in London and was very disappointed with the lack of Joker scenes in the final cut.
The Reddit user continued, “You should get what they advertised as their first theatre showing and what you have paid for based on what they have showed you in their advertisements.”
As the Inquisitr reported, reshoots were ordered by Warner Bros. after Batman v Superman failed to impress. Moviegoers complained about the grim tone, and Warner Bros. thought a lighter mood might be a better route to go for Suicide Squad, which wasn’t the tone that director David Ayer was going for originally. As a result, scenes were cut which included The Joker.
Even actor Jared Leto seemed upset by his lack of screen time after he spent months getting into the role. Leto says he has enough scenes that were cut to make a full Joker movie.
In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Leto said, “I think that I brought so much to the table in every scene, it was probably more about filtering all of the insanity, because I wanted to give a lot of options, and I think there’s probably enough footage in this film for a Joker movies.”

He continued, “If I were to die tomorrow, maybe the studio would roll something out. Rated R or rated X performance in there somewhere.”
Perhaps, the Reddit user would be pleased with a full-length Joker movie? So far, Warner Bros. hasn’t responded to this fan’s intentions to sue.
