After questions about crossovers between Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire , it turns out that there is going to be one. In fact, one crossover will last a number of episodes, as it will be romance between two characters.

Antonio Dawson, who has appeared in numerous Fire episodes, will appear in the show again. Fire ‘s Sylvie Brett will appear in Chicago P.D. this season, as she and Dawson get together. This isn’t a first for the shows, but it doesn’t mean that is going to make it any easier.
Wolf has managed this sort of crossover twice before. P.D. ‘s Erin Lindsay and Fire’s Kelly Severide had a fling for a time, but that didn’t work out. That didn’t mean inter-show relationships couldn’t work. Mouch and Platt continue to have a positive marriage between the two shows. That could mean success is on the cards for Dawson and Brett.

This difficulty in this relationship is Gabriella Dawson. Unlike all the other couples, this involves a sister and a friend. She will be caught in the middle if everything goes wrong, and it could make everyone involved apprehensive about the situation. While they both do suit each other in what they want from a partner, there are still many other factors that mean it just shouldn’t work.
Fans have already taken to social media about the decision for the crossover love interest. Many on Facebook are looking forward to seeing the relationship play out, regardless of how it ends. They hold hope that it will all work out for the best, as both characters deserve something good. While Brett wants a man who is sensitive and good (which Dawson is), Dawson wants a woman with heart and soul. They’re finding their perfect loves in each other.
Others have taken to Twitter to say that they’re interested in Gabriella’s feelings. This isn’t going to be easy for her, but she has more things to deal with in Chicago Fire Season 5. Casey came back to her in the Season 4 finale, and she was approved for the adoption of Luis in the end. Now it is time for him to decide if he really is ready to be a father, and for her to decide whether this is something she can do on her own.
Plus it’s gonna make things interesting between Gabby and Sylvie. Interesting.???????? #ChicagoFire #ChicagoPD https://t.co/MlOi15g7qP

There are some fans not looking forward to it, but overall the reaction has been positive. The most positive thing said is that fans love to see crossovers happen, which is the same for any fandom where there are spinoffs.
Just before announcing the love interest crossover, it was also announced that a four-way crossover is being planned between Chicago P.D. , Fire , Med, and new show Justice. The newer show isn’t due to start until the mid-season break, but it could be possible that the four-way crossover will introduce some of the Justice characters. This crossover is still in the works, so there is no confirmation of how it could happen.

Chicago Fire and P.D. are both in the middle of filming their seasons now. P.D. will return on September 21, with Fire following on October 11. There’s been nothing mentioned about when the romance will take place, and who will cross into which show first. It is possible P.D. fans will see the romance first, with Brett making an appearance.
The crossover isn’t going to be easy, but it isn’t going to be impossible. The scheduling of the episodes is the hardest part, since Fire starts so much later than its police counterpart, according to Entertainment Weekly. This will affect some of the storytelling, as writers of both shows need to get together to work this out and keep it realistic.
Chicago P.D. and Fire fans, what do you think about this crossover romance news? What will it mean for all involved?
