Jeb Bush’s Son, George P. Bush, Endorses Trump, Disses Dad By Supporting GOP Nominee
Jeb Bush’s son, George P. Bush, has endorsed GOP nominee,Donald Trump in hopes to unite the Republican Party. The Texas land commissioner endorsed his father’s rival, despite the nasty rhetoric the two had during the primaries, reported CNN.
Donald Trump and Jeb Bush were on a bit of a warpath throughout the primaries. Most of the time, Trump spitball insults at Bush, calling him “low energy,” among many other things. Still, George P. Bush felt it was essential to back the GOP nominee in efforts to defeat Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The Texas Tribune reported further on this story.
Jeb Bush’s son spoke to a gathering of Texas Republican activist on Sunday, where he encouraged the group that it was time to back the Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“From Team Bush, it’s a bitter pill to swallow, but you know what? You get back up and you help the man that won, and you make sure that we stop Hillary Clinton.”
George P. Bush has waited quite some time to endorse Donald Trump. Both former President’s George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush didn’t attend the Republican Party Convention last month in Cleveland, Ohio. Jeb Bush also refuses to vote for the GOP nominee in November.

While Jeb Bush’s son went ahead and endorsed Donald Trump, Jeb Bush continues to adamantly speak against the GOP nominee. In July, Jeb said that Republicans voting for Donald Trump would ultimately feel “betrayed,” when they would discover that what he’s campaigning for would never be fulfilled. During an interview with MSNBC, Jeb Bush discussed how Trump’s promises are ridiculous.
“There isn’t going to be a wall built…And Mexico’s not going to pay for it. And there’s not going to be a ban on Muslims.”
Donald Trump didn’t necessarily stop insulting Jeb Bush once he got out of the presidential race. In June, when Trump was still the presumptive Republican nominee, he accused Jeb Bush of encouraging GOP delegates to block Trump from gaining the presidential nomination in Cleveland.
“By the way, Jeb is working on the movement, just so you understand. I love competition like that. I love it.”
Jeb Bush’s son still ended up supporting Donald Trump, despite the Republican presidential nominee not having evidence to back the claim that Jeb was supposedly encouraging delegates not to support Trump.
Jeb Bush’s son seems to be the odd one out, by supporting Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump. One of Jeb Bush’s longtime advisors, Sally Bradshaw publicly announced that she was now registered as a member of the Independent Party. She also added that she would be voting for Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, come November.
Before endorsing Donald Trump, George P. Bush had previously been criticized for not throwing his support behind the Republican nominee earlier in the election. While Bush had initially accepted the position of overseeing Texas’ statewide campaign in November, he had been criticized for not choosing a presidential candidate first.
Though Jeb Bush’s son initially ended up endorsing Donald Trump, Jeb was the favorite Republican presidential candidate for a period of time. According to Vanity Fair, Jeb Bush was perfect for the position because of his family name, his connection with the Latino community, the fact that he could speak Spanish, and how he had super-PAC funds worth $11o million. Though, it seems the Republican party wasn’t looking for a traditional candidate in the 2016 presidential election. Party voters have been drawn to Donald Trump’s anti-establishment ways. Trump’s beliefs on anti-immigration and lack of money in politics have made him appealing to Republican voters.
