Olsen Twins Done With Acting, On To The Fashion World
The Olsen twins may have long vanished from television and movies, but the famous sisters are just starting to emerge as heavy hitters in another realm — the world of fashion.
Though Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen dabbled in fashion when they were younger, with products aimed at tween girls, the pair have since devoted themselves to becoming bona fide designers and are beginning to make waves in the fashion world.
The last month has been particularly good to the Olsen twins, as they announced a new perfume and became some of the hottest designers at New York Fashion Week. They have come so far that at fashion week, it was clear other designers were copying the “layered-yet-airy refined look” that is at the heart of their label The Associated Press reported.
It wasn’t just mimicry that the Olsen twins earned this year — its accolades too. The designers won the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s award earlier this year as the top womenswear designers.
As the Olsen twins make a name for themselves in the world of fashion, they are also expanding their empire, WWD reported. They plan to launch the first fragrance under their Elizabeth and James label with Sephora in March.
Even their hair is setting fashion trends, The Sydney Morning Herald noted. The hair stylist for the twins, Jason Cooking, has turned their “tonal fusion” into one of the hottest styles today. Though both of the Olsen twins have given up acting almost entirely — Ashley last appearing in the 2004 bomb New York Minute and Mary-Kate continuing to act in small parts on television through last year — it clear they have a bright future mapped out in fashion.
