Naturmobil Car Runs On One Horsepower, Quite Literally

Naturmobile is an eco-friendly concept car that probably isn’t going to be made with any source of mass production, but it was goofy enough that I couldn’t pass it up. After all, the car is powered by one horsepower, literally!

As you can see from the picture on this page the car places a horse in the back of the vehicle on a treadmill, as the horse walks along the belt the car is “powered” and can move along the same type of roadways enjoyed by typical cars.

So how fast does this vehicle move? How about 28 mph! A speed which combines the horses speed with the cars ability to smoothly glide down the road. Of course you’ll also be enjoying the smell of your horse the entire time.

The inventor is also hosting a contest where he’s willing to give away the patent, prototype and $100,000 to the first person who can explain in the best terms why he would bother inventing such a goofy vehicle. [via Inhabitat]
