Team Britney Spears Livid Over Glee’s Episode Mocking Her Public Meltdown
Last night viewers watched Glee’sBritney Spears 2.0 themed episode that saw actress Heather Morris who portrays ditzy Brittany S. Pierce proclaim, “It’s Britney B___”. One could assume from the opening number that they were in for another special dedication to the one and only queen of pop, Britney Spears.
However some fans of the pop singer were outraged, as what they tuned into wasn’t a tribute but more along the lines of a loose reenactment of Spears’ public meltdown as captured by the media. The episode, which aired and was promoted by Fox right after the X Factor featured a public spiral of head cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce. The episode included a lip synced reenactment of Spears’ disastrous Gimme More VMA performance, including the blonde rolling around in cheetos while appearing to be lethargic.
Another scene saw the character hitting high school journalists with an umbrella. That scene in particular was famously captured by the paparazzi, as Spears was seen hitting a car with an umbrella right after she decided to shave her head. At one point during the episode Brittany also tried to take an electrical razor to her head to the horror of her Glee club classmates.
Fans of Spears aren’t the only ones that were outraged. It’s said that Britney Spears’ camp got wind of the episode and are “livid” with the direction creator Ryan Murphy took this episode in. Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush caught up with Team Britney who weren’t privy to the details of the Glee episode before it aired. Spears’ team called the episode a “low blow” to the singer, who has worked very hard to shed the out of control image she created in 2008. Bush revealed that he caught up with Spears’ longtime manager Larry Rudolph and said, “I can tell you that Britney’s manager, Larry, is livid. He’s not happy.”
It is not yet known whether or not Britney Spears’ team will take legal action against Glee.
