‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Return Promises To Introduce New Groups That Will Lead To ‘Other Complications’

Brand new footage of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 return shows a splintered group that has to learn to fend for themselves in the new post-apocalyptic world. Also revealed are several new groups of people that could be a help or a hindrance to the main characters in Fear.

Yahoo TV has just revealed exclusive footage from the Season 2 return of Fear The Walking Dead ahead of the premiere date on August 21. In the three-minute video, not only is new footage revealed from Season 2B, but the cast and crew also discuss what fans can expect.

Fear’s executive producer, Gale Anne Hurd, reveals that with the group now split, it gives them a chance to “explore different communities.” Along with these new communities — some of which are newly hinted at in the video clip, some of which fans have already seen in previous Fear the Walking Dead trailers — is the threat of even more infected than seen previously. She also suggests that some of the main group will rise to the challenge of the post-apocalyptic world, and some will sink.

Colman Domingo, who plays Victor Strand in Fear the Walking Dead reveals that in the Season 2 return, fans will get a chance to see the characters find out who they really are.

“The characters are really spun away from each other,” he explains. “Finding out who they are now that things have changed dramatically.”

For Strand, Domingo reveals, this means he will have many “inner demons” to deal with.

Frank Dillane, who plays Nick Clark, explains that his character will still be searching for people like Celia from the first half of Season 2 of Fear. We know from the trailer released at the recent San Diego Comic-Con and from interviews done there that Nick does meet a new group of people who have the same beliefs as Celia did about the infected. While it appears Nick will develop a relationship with a woman called Luciana in this group, footage from the Yahoo! video show Nick kissing someone other than Luciana.

Cliff Curtis, who plays Travis Manawa, reveals more on the storyline involving his character and his son, Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie). The mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead saw Travis and Chris split away from Madison (Kim Dickens) and Strand. Curtis explains the reasoning behind this is because Travis feels Chris is a “danger to himself and others.” Curtis explaining that it is probably best for Chris to be kept isolated for the time being. However, as the video reveals, the isolation appears to be short lived as Travis and Chris are shown sitting around a campfire with other people. Only by tuning into the Season 2 return of Fear the Walking Dead will reveal the outcome of this meeting.

As for Madison and Strand’s group, they head to a high rise hotel for shelter, where they will find themselves in “another community of sorts,” according to Kim Dickens. As Colman explains, “when you come across other characters, you come across other complications, other needs, other journeys.”

During this time, Madison has to learn to let her daughter, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), stand on her own two feet, something that is more perilous now during the zombie apocalypse than it was previously. But, for Madison, it will be even harder now that she has already had to let her son, Nick, wander off by himself. Hopefully Alicia has learned from the mistakes she made earlier on in Season 2 and makes decisions that will not jeopardize herself or those around her in the Season 2 return of Fear.

As for Ofelia, she is “practically suicidal” according to the actress who plays her, Mercedes Mason.

“She’s lost everything she has,” Mason explains in the interview.

Season 2 of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead returns Sunday, August 21, with Episode 8 (entitled “Grotesque”) at 9 p.m. ET.

The official synopsis for the second half of Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead is below.

“As Fear The Walking Dead embarks on the second half of season two, the Clark, Manawa and Salazar families fracture. The events that took place at the Abigail compound have set all of our heroes adrift. Now they must forge their own paths to survive.”
