Nia Guzman Gushes Over Chris Brown’s ‘Beautiful’ Relationship With Daughter Royalty, Says Toddler ‘Adores’ Her Father
Chris Brown and Nia Guzman may not be on speaking terms after blasting each other via social media earlier this year, but that doesn’t mean Guzman is standing in the way of the “Grass Ain’t Greener” singer from having a hands-on relationship with their two-year-old daughter, Royalty.
Just three months after breaking her silence regarding her co-parenting frustrations with Chris Brown, Guzman sat down with Latina for the magazine’s September issue to give an update on the status of her co-parenting relationship with Brown. She also gave readers an in-depth look at daughter Royalty’s day-to-day activities.
Speaking about Royalty’s relationship with dad Chris Brown, Nia explains that her daughter “adores [Chris]” and remains “pretty attached to him,” especially when the “Loyal” singer is busy touring to promote his latest album release, Royalty, which features a loving photo of Brown and the toddler in the album’s cover art.

“She adores him. Especially when he’s on the road. She always wants to call him. She’s pretty attached to him. I think it’s a very intimate and beautiful relationship that they have,” Guzman explains.
Guzman further explains that while she and Brown still have some “negativity” in their co-parenting relationship, her goal is to ensure that Chris has an opportunity to be “hands-on” with their daughter regardless of their differences.
“I’m doing all I can to co-parent and make sure Royalty will never see any negativity me and him have,” Guzman continues. “No matter what issues we have, I will always be 100 percent for [Chris] to be there and be hands-on.”
Guzman also dispels rumors suggesting that she’s attempting to keep Chris Brown from spending time with Royalty, a claim that surfaced following the duo’s legal battle over visitation rights for their daughter earlier this year, noting that the more active Chris Brown is in co-parenting their daughter, the more time Guzman will have to focus on her own career aspirations.
“I have some things coming up. [I have] a jewelry line and a clothing line that I’m trying to put in motion at this time, along with school. So I plan to be really busy in the year coming up,” Nia explains.
The news comes just months after Guzman broke her silence regarding her strained co-parenting relationship with Chris Brown, telling Latina in a previous interview that she has “nothing positive” to say about the experience thus far.
“The world didn’t find out about her until a year ago. [Chris] always knew about her, he just wasn’t ready to deal with the situation,” Guzman explained of Brown’s reaction to the news of his fatherhood status reaching the media, ultimately leading Brown’s then-girlfriend Karrueche Tran to publicly call off their longtime on again, off again relationship via Twitter.
“But, it’s been quite the experience,” Nia continues, “I can’t say anything positive about it…at all. Nothing positive.”
“I knew what the outcome was going to be once it came out. I was very fearful for…everything that’s going on now. I know that he’s young, he’s wild, and he has the bad boy persona, and I just knew that it just wasn’t going to be the best situation. And if I could have still kept it quiet until now, I would have,” Guzman admits.
Nia also addressed claims suggesting that she is purposely trying to keep Chris Brown from seeing Royalty in an effort to obtain more child support from the “Back to Sleep” singer, revealing that she simply wants her daughter to have “a safer home” and a more “balanced” childhood.
“I think this whole money issue too has been out of control. This number that people are stuck on, this $15k, this $16k…that is something that is legally calculated, from dad’s income. So, it’s not even a set number. I just want to have Royalty in a safer home. I would want it to be not leave to dad, and not be in a mansion and huge playrooms and backyards and TV rooms, and then she comes home with me and she’s in a small apartment. I just want to keep her balanced. [Chris] feels like she should have everything when she’s with him, and limited when she’s with me. And I don’t think that is okay, at all,” Guzman concludes.
Nia Guzman and Royalty Brown are featured in Latina‘s September issue, on newsstands August 9.
