Pit Bull Stabbed Five Times While Saving Woman From Attack — ‘Hero’ Stray Dog Recovering From Deadly Knife Wounds
A stray pit bull that bravely stopped a woman from being attacked was stabbed multiple times by the attacker. The rescuers who helped the dog survive the brutal attack and ensured his medical care, are now looking for a home for the courageous canine.
A hero dog managed to protect the woman who was being attacked by a knife-wielding attacker. Though the stray dog managed to ensure the woman was saved by intervening during the assault, he was seriously injured after the assailant targeted it instead. The pit bull sustained at least five puncture wounds from the sharp knife. Officers, who rescued the dog, are now looking for a home after he recovers from the deadly attack, reported International Business Times.

The police confirmed a man attempted to attack a woman in Baldwin, Georgia, on July 22, when out of nowhere, the stray pit bull jumped in to help. The dog lunged at the attacker who had a knife. Though the canine managed to separate the victim from her attacker, it was stabbed five times, reported WATE. The officers, who rescued the pit bull, had responded to a domestic incident call in Tennessee. They added that the dog was gravely injured and he almost died twice during the surgery. However, the brave dog cheated death and is now recovering, they said.

While the details about the case or those involved in the same haven’t been made public, Officer Timothy Clay, who was one of the officers who responded to the call, said the following.
“The dog… lunged toward the male and the male came out with the knife and stabbed the dog several times. I don’t think we could have let that dog suffer and die. We felt like we needed to get that dog some help after what it had been through.”
According to YouCaring, the pit bull, which has been named Hero by his rescuers, saved a woman he did not know from a male attacker. The rescuers found the pit bull just in time, said Carla Welch, the founder and director of Fighting for the Bullys Pit Bull Rescue.
“They almost lost him, but they got him there just in the nick of time. I thought he was very courageous and brave. He was totally a stranger to these people.
“For those two officers to go to the extent they did to save him is very heroic and very awesome.”
The hero dog is now under the care of Fighting for the Bullys Pit Bull Rescue in West Knox County, reported WBIR. After the efforts of the dog and his bravery were shared on social media platforms, people from all walks of life started donating money to help pay for Hero’s medical care. The dog miraculously survived, despite being stabbed five times. The donations have already crossed $1,400. The veterinarian who treated the pit bull, slashed the cost of the surgery.
The rescuers are now looking for a home for the 7-year-old dog. Speaking about Hero, Welch commented on his condition.
“He has had a really rough life. He has had a bum back leg and a bum front leg, but he gets around fine and he’s looking for a good friend. Despite the traumatic injuries, the seven-year-old pit bull is laid back and likes people, very sweet. He likes to talk to you. He’s going to make somebody a great companion.”
Welch added that the rescue center is waiting for the canine’s wounds to heal. She is confident that the dog will find a loving home after he is put up for adoption.
“Hero will get his second chance. He will get a fantastic family, and he will finally get his happily ever after.”
