Former NFL player Chad Johnson and Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada are officially divorced, E!Online has confirmed.
According to E! , a judge in Florida signed off on the divorce papers early Wednesday morning, ending the couple’s 11-week marriage.
Johnson, formerly known as Ochocinco, married the Lozada July 4 in a lavish ceremony. In August, however, the relationship came to a crashing halt after Johnson was arrested for allegedly head butting Lozada after she found a receipt for a box of condoms in his car.
Lozada was treated at hospital after the incident and later released the following statement:
“It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well.”
Following Chad’s arrest, the Miami Dolphins announced they had released him from the team and shortly after, Johnson and Lozada’s reality show Ev and Ocho was cancelled by VH1 .
At first it appeared that Chad was dead-set on winning Evelyn back, as he reportedly refused to sign divorce papers filed by his 36-year-old bride and instead, picked up a new tattoo expressing his love for her on his leg.
Lozada, however, was firm in her decision to split with the athlete, and Johnson filed his own divorce papers last Wednesday (September 12), admitting that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
E! notes that while Chad Johnson didn’t directly address the divorce on Twitter Wednesday, he did post a shot of himself smiling along with the following caption:

Evelyn Lozada also took to Twitter after the divorce was finalized, tweeting:
Oh what a GREAT morning!!!
