‘Arrow’ Season 5 Spoilers — Will Oliver And Felicity Finally Get Back Together? Cast Chimes In On Olicity
During the recent San Diego Comic-Con, the cast and crew for The CW’s Arrow talked about the upcoming fifth season of the popular show.
The cast, including star Stephen Amell, who portrays Oliver Queen, opened up about his character’s relationship with Felicity Smoak to fans present at the panel.
Is a rekindling of romance in their future?
According to Zap2it, when the fourth installment of Arrow ended fans saw Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) still unable to get their romantic relationship back on track. Their friendship, however, was intact, even though Felicity called off their engagement.
“That relationship is much more important than the romantic element of it.”
Amell has been slowly hinting to fans that his character’s relationship with Felicity has always been more than romance.
“I think that it’s important to remember that relationships on the show don’t have to be only defined by romance. Oliver and Felicity could have a wonderful, fulfilling, dynamic relationship and not be together, right?” Amell previously explained to Zap2it.
For fans hoping that Olicity will be a thing when the new season picks up, they should prepare themselves to be disappointed. Amell, according to Comic Book, claimed that his character’s most important relationship is with Star City.
Amell further explained that the newly crowned mayor is still focused on making his beloved city a better place and to complete what his father asked him to do.
Although Team Arrow scattered at the end of Season 4, Smoak remains, and Amell said they will be starting off the new season as team members.
“So Oliver and Felicity are very much team members at this point. She thinks that there should be a new team at the moment, and Oliver would like the old team to return. He’s convinced everyone will do their thing, then come back. They’re kind of at odds at that at the moment, but they’re very much team members right now.”
For hopeful fans, Comic Book Movie states that although Oliver and Felicity aren’t together anymore, the show itself hasn’t hinted at a lessened role for Rickard’s character. This is a hopeful sign that Season 5 will be filled with plenty of relationship drama.
While their romance might not get rekindled right away, it remains a vital part of the show and has been for nearly three years, as a recent award proves.
MTVNews reveals that despite a rocky ending in season four, Olicity just walked away with MTV Fandom Awards’ Ship of the Year award for the second year in a row.
Stephen Amell was even at the ceremony at San Diego’s Petco Park and hopped on stage to accept the award.
Since they are starting out Season 5 just the two of them, fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see where the one-time lovebirds are at emotionally. Hopefully, Olicity shippers will be satisfied by year’s end.
But Felicity isn’t the only woman from the Arrow universe that fans have been wanting answers from.
Christian Times reports that whatever Laurel Lance told Oliver before she died will finally be revealed. Amell even claims that the impact of the promise she made Oliver goes much further than the Season 5 premiere.
For the rest of Season 5, fans can expect not only plenty of romantic drama and new villains, but also an epic crossover event between all of showrunner Greg Berlanti’s creations with Arrow colliding with The Flash, Supergirl and DC’s Legend of Tomorrow.
So fans, what do you think? Will Oliver and Felicity eventually work things out or is his alter ego too much for a lasting relationship? Let us know in the comments below!
