‘Bachelorette’ Andi Dorfman Claims Women Are ‘Sl*t-Shamed’ After Fantasy Suites, There Is A ‘Double Standard’

The Fantasy Suite episodes on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have long been fan favorites.

Following JoJo Fletcher’s night alone with her final two men, former Bachelorette star Andi Dorfman is letting everyone know what really goes on behind those closed doors and how the experience is very different for women.

According to People, the former reality star believes the Fantasy Suite double standard needs to stop.

As fans will recall, Dorfman received a lot of sex-shaming after her night with Nick Viall. Things only got worse after Viall revealed that he had sex with Dorfman during the “Men Tell All” special.

“After that aired, I saw clips of national news anchors on TV calling me a sl*t. Verbatim. On live national television, calling me a sl*t,” Dorfman shared with the Hollywood Reporter.

Unfortunately, the situation is very different for the men who star on The Bachelor, even though they do the same things behind closed doors.

“Almost every Bachelor has sex with everyone he goes into the Fantasy Suites with. Obviously, there are some exceptions, but regardless, you never hear anything of it,” Dorfman explained. “And yet we as a society will go so far as to call a woman a sl*t for having sex with two men that she’s been dating. Two men whose families she’s met, who have professed their love to her and two men she has feelings for. And, somehow, having sex with them becomes grounds to call her a sl*t.”

For Dorfman, the way the show portrays the Fantasy Suite dates doesn’t help any.

The show actually films the final round of dates over a two week period, whereas fans watch it all go down in a matter of hours.

At the same time, Dorfman also explained how she didn’t have sex with all three of her final suitors. Like Fletcher, Dorfman didn’t invite her third man, Chris Soules, to spend the night.

For Dorfman, a lot of thought was put into her decision to not get intimate with Soules.

“I could have gone three for three, but I chose not to because I didn’t want to have that intimate experience with somebody that I didn’t feel a certain way about,” she stated. “It wasn’t just recklessly having sex, but even if I was, so what? Whether it’s love, lust or just enjoyment, there’s the notion that sex has to happen on a deeper level when it comes to women, but not when it comes to men.”

Despite her misgivings about the slut-shaming, Andi Dorfman believes the Fantasy Suite dates serve a vital purpose on the show.

Apart from the physical intimacy, Dorfman revealed that the night along is the first time contestants experience each other without the presence of the camera crew. This allows both sides to see how they act when nobody is watching.

According to Huffington Post, Dorfman’s time on The Bachelorette didn’t exactly end happily ever after. In fact, she split with her final suitor in 2014.

Since the breakup, Dorfman moved to New York and wrote a successful memoir about the reality TV dating world.

Meanwhile, Thrillist is reporting that fans are already speculating about who Fletcher had sex with during her Fantasy Suite night.

Although the doors hide everything that goes on, it is a good bet that she slept with both Jordan Rodgers and Robby Hayes. Hopefully, Fletcher won’t experience as much sex-shaming as Dorfman.

Of course, the one guy left out was Chase McNary, whom Fletcher did not invite into her suite.

With two contestants left, the only question remaining is who will take home Fletcher’s final rose.

The Season 12 finale of The Bachelorette is set to air August 1 on ABC.
