Joe Budden Claims Drake Sent Him ‘Passive Aggressive’ Message Amid Rap Beef
The beef between Drake and Joe Budden has been sparking heat, and Budden has no problem discussing it at length.
It’s no secret that Joe Budden has been coming at Drake for a while now, especially with the diss tracks that have been released thus far. Indirect insults between artists through songs are common. While they hint at beef, Budden is making it clear how he feels about the Toronto rapper.
By now, fans of both artists have heard the diss tracks that have surfaced over the past few months between Drake and Budden. Budden, mostly known for his single “Pump It Up,” released “Making A Murderer.” Intended to leave no questions about who he was taking shots at, the 35-year-old New Jersey rapper made sure that the Six god knew his intentions. Social media buzzed with news of the diss track, most claiming that Joe was more than a match for the Toronto native. In response, Drake doesn’t seem to be concerned.

In a report by HotNewHipHop, Joe Budden makes mention of a DM (direct message) that Drake sent to him recently. In the DM, Budden expresses that he doesn’t quite know how to feel in regard to it.
“He started off with ‘I would like to formally invite you to one of my four Madison Square Garden shows, August 4. You and however many people you’d like to bring,'” Budden said. “Then after that it said, ‘and I bet you can’t release 25 diss records between now and then.'”
It sounds like Drake is being lighthearted about the matter, setting a challenge before Budden that would serve to threaten his position in the beef. Budden was confused at Drizzy’s words, giving his thoughts after reading Drake’s message.
“So then it was the laughing emoji. I use that emoji with my friends, so I don’t know if he’s laughing or joking at this point,” he stated. “And then he followed that with, ‘If you can, I will give you $10,000 LOL.’ And then it said ‘Joey’ with a bunch of exclamation points. I didn’t know how to take that.”
Joe Budden chose not to take his information too far, seemingly keeping it in reserve in case he needs more ammunition to fire at the “Hotline Bling” rapper.
While the beef between Joe Budden and Drake continues, it doesn’t appear that the message sparked anything more than a passive-aggressive stance. A report by Billboard reveals that the Slaughterhouse rapper actually has love for Drake, and continues to wish him well.
“It all started from a place of love and I still love that kid. He’s just maybe a bit more sensitive than I thought,” Budden said. “I pray for him. I want him to be well. I want him to be successful. I want God to continue to be great to him. He just gotta know that he can’t rap with n—as like me, so don’t play with me.”

The DM isn’t the only thing that Drake has sent to Budden. There’s also the matter of the Billboard report where Drake calls Joe Budden out at a Dallas concert, mocking “Pump It Up” and jabbing a few bars at Budden’s expense. This is similar to the beef that the OVO rapper carried with Meek Mill, though Budden is believed to be more of a threat. Meek Mill’s response is that Joe Budden has been irrelevant since 2013. If the current heat between Drake and Joe is any indication, one can almost guarantee that the dust is far from being able to settle.
