American Flags Banned From 2016 DNC? U.S. Flag Photos, Videos In Democratic National Convention Hall Prove Otherwise
There is a false story circulating that there were no U.S. flags present at the DNC. However, the social media tale about American flags being banned at the 2016 Democratic National Convention are false, reports Snopes. As seen in photos on the publication’s website, as well as photos throughout this article, plenty of U.S. flags were present at the DNC, with American flags showing up on the stage and in videos and signage across the convention hall.
That Snopes article has been shared nearly 80,000 times since it was published on Tuesday, July 26. It’s a fact that proves the Facebook page titled “Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children” and the meme posted therein that claimed the Palestinian flag was flying in the audience at the DNC while no American flags were on display is plain wrong.
A search for flags at DNC on Facebook shows that lots of people have also posted the misinformation, while others are posting photos of the U.S. flags clearly seen at the DNC. As seen in the above photo from Tuesday, July 26, the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Old Glory U.S. flags can be seen en masse as the stage of the DNC is reflected on a glass window in a Wells Fargo Arena suite.
Timmy Kelly sang the national anthem prior to the beginning of the DNC, which has had continual themes of patriotism throughout. However, the stories being bandied about social media and other websites claimed that U.S. flag had been banned from the DNC because American flags were offensive to so many Democrats.
A plethora of conservative websites followed suit by publishing reports that claimed no American flags graced the DNC. Yet, photos from the Associated Press, as seen throughout this article, prove there were American flags at the DNC despite the still photos claiming no U.S. flags were present making their way around in meme format.
As seen in the full video of Bill Clinton speaking at the DNC, who waxed nostalgic about meeting Hillary Rodham and asking her to marry him three times before she said yes, American flags can be seen inside the DNC.
Even Eric Trump repeated the falsehood of no American flags being present at the DNC, tweeting an image (seen below) that captured a specific point in time when the U.S. flag wasn’t displayed in video format at the DNC behind the speaker.
However, as noted by Snopes, the RNC and the DNC both utilized large video formats in the background, which alternately displayed U.S. flags interspersed with other backdrops at times.
The absence of American Flags at the #DNC further reinforces the "commercial sterilization" message of my speech! ?? pic.twitter.com/AAZKpSHgxp

The tweet from Eric was liked nearly 10,000 times and retweeted nearly 6,000 times.
Meanwhile, additional tweets, like the one below from BuzzFeed News, show a plethora of flags at the DNC both on the stage and even wrapped around Meryl Streep. In fact, Streep’s American flag dress, as reported by E! Online?, was designed by Catherine Malandrino, with the American flag shirtdress currently sold out at this time.

The top photo above shows former President Bill Clinton at the DNC on Tuesday, July 26 walking out in between several American flags before giving his rousing speech about Hillary. Clinton’s speech focused on Hillary’s travels around the U.S. ever since the day Clinton met his future wife in 1971. He described her as a girl with big hair and huge glasses who wore a big flowery skirt.
Clinton’s nearly hour-long speech at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia found Bill talking about Hillary helping people as a private citizen doing public servant work and called her a woman who put her motherhood duties first.
A U.S. flag can even be seen in the above photo as delegates walked out of the convention while protesting at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday.
