‘The Bachelorette’ Stars Luke Pell And Chase McNary In ‘Discussions’ To Be The Next ‘Bachelor’
With The Bachelorette quickly winding down, speculation has already started about which former suitor will star on The Bachelor.
So far, the two likeliest candidates for the role — the ones with the best charm and back story — include Luke Pell and Chase McNary. Will one of them become the next Bachelor?
According to Heavy, Pell recently got dumped by JoJo Fletcher on The Bachelorette, which just wrapped up its fantasy suite dates. Pell’s ability to make it to the final four automatically makes him a prime candidate for his own show.
Pell served in the U.S. military during the Afghan War. He is also a graduate of West Point.
Unfortunately, his downfall on The Bachelorette was that he didn’t express his true feelings for Fletcher until it was too late. Although is love confession delayed Fletcher’s decision last week, the reality star eventually sent him packing.
In a sit down with ABC News, Pell opened up about his surprising exit from the reality show.“That was the not the best moment to say that, and I knew that. And I knew by the look in her eyes [that something was off]. That was the first time she looked at me that way versus any other day,” Pell explained. “It was something that I should’ve been more direct about, and I didn’t embrace how quickly the process happens.”
An official decision about the upcoming season of The Bachelor won’t be made until after The Bachelorette is over.
However, the fact that Pell’s name is not included on the list of cast members for Bachelor in Paradise is a good indication that they network is considering him for the gig.
Of course, Pell has stiff competition for the role in McNary.
According to E! Online, both men are currently in talks to star in the new season of The Bachelor.
Will McNary beat Pell for the spot?
McNary is the latest contestant to get rejected by Fletcher. McNary’s exit from The Bachelorette shocked many fans, especially considering how great he got along with Fletcher.
Even though McNary almost made it to the final round, he still isn’t sure about his future on reality TV.
“The discussions are there… But I don’t know — there’s a lot of weight there. There [are] a lot of expectations, and I’m not scared of it … but I definitely want to make the smart decision and the right decision before I totally accept that position.”
McNary isn’t the most open person when it comes to emotions. In fact, he eventually told Fletcher that he loved her, but that was the first time he had done such a thing in a relationship.
This is one major element that is holding McNary back from diving into The Bachelor.“[As the Bachelor] you’re put in the microscope of America and that’s scary,” he continued. “I wasn’t exactly the most open guy about my feelings, and going into being the Bachelor… that’s something I would definitely have to work on.”
Wet Paint is reporting that McNary’s exit from The Bachelorette could also prove problematic.
After Fletcher decided to kick McNary out of her fantasy suite, he stormed off set in a heated rage.
“I just threw myself out there,” McNary explained. “… and now I’m shattered. I mean, what do you want me to say? You 100% made me regret saying that. So now love equals ‘get the f**k out?’ That was so f**king terrifying for me say.”
However, McNary’s apology during the rose ceremony did restore his public image, at least for now.
For his part, Pell was less hesitant about accepting the part for The Bachelor.
“It’s a possibility,” he stated. “I definitely would not pass on it!”
The Bachelorette finale is scheduled for August 1.
