Bernie Sanders Reportedly In Talks To Formally Nominate Hillary For POTUS At DNC [Video]
Bernie Sanders’ campaign reps are reportedly in the midst of negotiations with the Hillary Clinton camp for Senator Sanders to be the person to officially nominate Clinton as the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party. According to reports, the Clinton camp wants Bernie Sanders to officially nominate Clinton as the Democratic candidate following the official DNC roll call vote on Tuesday, and they want Senator Sanders to do it in an attempt to try to unify a seemingly broken Democratic Party.
As CNN reports, Bernie Sanders’ supporters have completely refused to follow the guidance of their now-failed candidate and back Hillary Clinton as the party’s nominee. Rather, when Bernie Sanders called for and tried to demonstrate Democratic unity on Monday at the Democratic National Convention, he was heckled and booed by his own supporters. Many refuse to vote for Hillary in November even though Sanders says they should.
According to the new post-primary Bernie Sanders, the most important thing at this stage of the game is preventing a Donald Trump win in November.
The crack in the Democratic Party seemed to heal a bit leading up to the Democratic National Convention, and Hillary was holding onto a tenuous lead in national polls as the Republican National Convention got rolling in Cleveland last week. The party’s shaky accord broke down last weekend, however, when Wikileaks dumped thousands of formerly private DNC emails for public perusal.
In those emails, it was revealed that the Democratic National Committee actively worked against Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders over the course of the primary election season. The formerly private correspondences revealed corruption so pervasive within the ranks of the Democratic Party that its chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, stepped down the weekend before the Democratic Convention.
After the email leak, which the FBI is investigating and which has been rumored to have something to do with a Russian cyber attack, Bernie Sanders and his collective supporters got a belated apology from the interim chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee for the concerted inside effort that was waged to keep Senator Sanders from securing the nomination. However, for many of the disgruntled supporters of Bernie Sanders, the apology was too little too late.
It will be such a significant moment. But of course the media will focus on the few fools who boo more than the gesture itself.

The reported negotiation between the Sanders camp and Hillary Clinton’s campaign to have Bernie Sanders be the one to formally nominate Hillary Clinton as the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee is just the latest in a string of efforts by Democratic insiders to bring the party together. The ultimate goal is to ensure that Democratic voters get behind the party’s candidate in large enough numbers to ensure that Donald Trump fails in November.
As disgruntled and disappointed as Bernie Sanders is about his failure in the primary and the discovery that it could have been because of party insider meddling, he is realistic enough to realize that a divided Democratic Party will result in the White House being handed to Trump on a silver platter.

When Sanders was booed again on Tuesday during a California delegation breakfast, he called out those within the Democratic Party who would rather snub their noses at Clinton than ensure a Democratic victory in the 2016 general election.
“It is easy to boo, but it is harder to look your kids in the face if we are living under a Trump presidency.”

It’s difficult to say whether or not Bernie Sanders formally nominating Hillary Clinton as the party’s nominee will help fix the problems within the Democratic Party. As recently as this morning, Bernie Sanders supporters have refused to follow their former candidate’s political lead. According to Bernie’s supporters, they love him, but they love his campaign platform more.
“Believe it or not we are not all blind followers of Bernie. We love Bernie and everything he represents, but all because he tells us to do something doesn’t mean we will.”
Only time will tell if Bernie Sanders will be able to convince his supporters to rally behind Clinton and the Democratic Party in time to keep Trump out of the White House.
