FBI Investigating DNC Email Hack, Looking Into Possibility Of Russian Cyber Attack [Video]
The FBI is investigating the recent dump of thousands of emails hacked from the Democratic National Committee. The email dump was carried out by Wikileaks, and the FBI believes it may have been the result of a Russian cyber attack. The content of the leaked emails was so stunning and divisive that it resulted in the resignation of DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. According to many of the leaked emails that are currently being investigated by the FBI, the DNC deliberately thwarted Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign and threw their collective support behind presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
The FBI issued a public statement regarding the email dump and presumed Russian hack on Monday.
“The FBI is investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC and are working to determine the nature and scope of the matter. A compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously, and the FBI will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace.”

Last weekend, the hacktivist group Wikileaks began publishing wave after wave of stolen private DNC emails for the public’s perusal. Wikileaks refused to divulge the source of the emails, but the Clinton Campaign and other Democratic Party insiders have come out with suspicions that the hacking was the work of Russian hackers. The FBI and people in Washington seem to agree, adding that they believe the DNC hack to be part of a larger trend of Russian cyber attacks that have recently been perpetrated on the United States.
Despite the announcement that the FBI is investigating the situation, Wikileaks has promised to release more hacked DNC emails in the near future.

The Clinton Campaign took their allegations regarding the hack and Wikileaks email dump one step further. According to a report by CNN Politics, Hillary Clinton’s campaign personnel believe that Russia is attacking the DNC and Clinton in an effort to help rival Donald Trump secure a White House win in November. With the FBI investigating the email hack and dump, it is possible that the investigation bureau will uncover a possible motive for the email attack before the upcoming general election.
Indeed, it does appear that the FBI is looking into the possibility that the Republican National Committee is somehow connected to the DNC email dump. Reportedly, the FBI has dispatched investigators to question members of the RNC, as well as the Trump and Clinton campaigns.
this Russian rhetoric helping Trump is absurd. Remember journalism? Try focusing on the corruption the emails exposed

Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager spoke out about the possible link between the email dump and the Republican National Committee. According to Robby Mook, the Republican political platform has become increasingly pro-Russian, and the apparent coincidence between the email dump and Democratic National Convention isn’t a coincidence at all.
“I don’t think it’s coincidental that these emails were released on the eve of our convention here, and I think that’s disturbing.”
Mook made his comments on Sunday before the FBI announced that it was investigating the DNC email hack and dump, including the possible Republican ties.
For Donald Trump’s part, his son has denied any connection between the Trump Campaign and the DNC email hack. This despite the fact that only a week ago, Donald Trump claimed that, under certain circumstances, the U.S. wouldn’t defend its NATO allies from against “Russian aggression.”
For many people, the Trump Campaign’s so-called pro-Russian agenda has them wondering what it could mean for America if Russia is actively trying to put Donald Trump in the White House.
According to an FBI spokesperson, the FBI is still in the early stages of its inquiry and investigation and doesn’t yet have the proof needed to tie Russian hackers to the Wikileaks DNC email dump. James Trainor of the FBI cyber division said that political organizations had been increasingly targeted for hacks and other cyber attacks. The trend is likely linked to the upcoming general election.
“There’s been aggressive targeting of that sector, the various campaigns, think tanks in the Washington, DC area. There’s value in information there if you’re a nation state actor, so (it) shouldn’t be surprising.”
So far, the FBI investigation into the DNC email dump is in its preliminary stages. It’s far too early to tell if Russia is somehow involved in the situation, let alone whether or not Russian hackers have some kind of agenda for putting Donald Trump in the White House.
There has been no announcement of an expected timeline for the FBI to finish investigating the DNC email hack.
