‘Scream Queens’ E.P. Says ‘It’s Bloodier And Funnier’ As Colton Haynes Joins Cast
If San Diego Comic-Con does nothing else, it forces Ryan Murphy and company to give a little on what might be expected in Season 2 of Scream Queens. That alone is worth the price of admission, considering how close to the vest Murphy plays his hand. It has previously been revealed that John Stamos has been cast in Season 2, but that was the biggest Scream Queens news to hit the web, until now. A Scream Queens panel revealed that Teen Wolf and Arrow actor Colton Haynes will also be joining the cast, as well as giving fans a better idea of what we can expect in Season 2.
Scream Queens Drafts Colton Haynes, But Who Will He Play?
Colton Haynes will be the newest addition to the Scream Queens Season 2 cast, and as E! News revealed, the actor was very excited to share the news with his Instagram followers.
“Very excited to share the news ? Cant wait to start work on Scream Queens Season 2!!! :),” Haynes captioned a picture on Instagram.
Nothing has been revealed in the way of Colton’s character, but knowing that Season 2 of the Ryan Murphy-run series takes place in a hospital setting, it doesn’t seem entirely out of the realm of possibility that Haynes might be playing a doctor in the new Scream Queens installment.
As mentioned earlier, John Stamos will be playing a doctor on Scream Queens, but he won’t be alone. Glen Powell, who played frat jerk Chad Radwell in the first season of Scream Queens, revealed that he will join Stamos, and that the both of them will be seen in the buff.
“All I can tell you is that I read a scene where John Stamos and I are not wearing clothes,” says Powell of the Scream Queens nude scene. “So I have to figure out my diet. I should probably not have a carb for a second because I don’t want John Stamos to show me up.”
SDCC Offers More Teasers For Season 2 Of Scream Queens
There will be a time jump when Scream Queens picks up Season 2, reveals Variety, and that’s not all. Three years later, the girls from Kappa house again find themselves thrown together, but in the hospital setting teased previously. Running the hospital as only she can is Jamie Lee Curtis returning as Dean Cathy Munsch. The former dean has had a large degree of success in the years since the events of Scream Queens Season 1, launching a New Feminism movement and becoming a best selling author, so she has had no trouble raising the money to buy the hospital.
It has also been shared that the hospital is a former mental asylum, but not the same institution seen at the end of Scream Queens Season 1. This is just a wild theory, but it would be interesting to learn the hospital is the same institution from American Horror Story: Asylum.
“I think it’s bloodier and funnier,” said Scream Queens executive producer Ian Brennan. “I feel like we’re leaning into the creepiness a little more and the comedy a little more.”
Brennan also revealed that Stamos won’t be just any doctor on the series. The Scream Queens character to be played by Stamos will be the first recipient of a hand transplant, and the Scream Queens showrunner suggests that there will be some mystery related to the origins of that hand.
Also joining Scream Queens is Twilight star Taylor Lautner, and although he wouldn’t say anything about who he might be playing on the series, he did mention that he’s been excited to come to the series because of the opportunities it presents.
“It’s completely different for me,” said Lautner of acting on Scream Queens. “I’ve never done anything like this, and I just wanted to work with talented people.”
The Season 2 premiere of Scream Queens will air September 20 on Fox.
