Suge Knight?? Murder Case: Release Of Witness Details Denied By Judge

Marion “Suge” Knight was denied details of potential prosecution witnesses in his pending murder case, Billboard reports.

Suge Knight, former hip-hop mogul, is currently serving time in prison on murder and attempted murder charges. Knight was charged for running over two men with his vehicle in the parking lot of fast-food eatery Tam’s Burgers, located in Compton, California, in the beginning of 2015. A promo shoot for the F. Gary Gray-directed N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton just so happened to be taking place close by.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen ruled that the identities of three confidential informants, as well as the addresses of a number of witnesses, had good reason to be withheld from Knight’s lawyers. The information was requested so that they could conduct independent and private interviews with each witness, in order to build a defense case for Suge.

The co-founder of Death Row records, however, does not necessarily have a history that would suggest no foul play would take place on the part of his lawyers. Basically, due to Suge Knight’s criminal record and allegations of having intimidated witnesses in cases, Judge Cohen was not going to allow the possibility of these witnesses being harassed or intimidated.

It looks like this violent history is catching up with the 51-year-old and starting to work against him. Prosecutors believe that Knight “has been a violent, unrepentant criminal for over 30 years.” They added that his behavior in the past makes it clear that Suge has “utter contempt for the judicial system and human life.”

Suge Knight actually does have quite a long history of both alleged and proven violent behavior and criminal activity.

In the past, he has violated the terms of his probation by associating himself with gang members, punched a parking lot attendant, allegedly hanging rapper Vanilla Ice over a balcony by his ankles and was caught on camera beating Orlando Anderson on September 7, 1996 — the night Tupac was killed.

A lot of Suge’s criminal and violent tendencies were even touched on in Straight Outta Compton. There were even rumors suggesting that Knight injected Eazy-E with HIV, which ended up resulting in his untimely death, as well as a rumor that he was somehow involved in Tupac’s death.

Suge Knight was played by actor R. Marcos Taylor in Straight Outta Compton, but the real Suge was not happy about it. Specifically, his problem was that he was not getting paid for the use of his likeness in the hip-hop biopic. He then sent some pretty threatening text messages to an unnamed victim, alluding to causing harm against both Dr. Dre and Ice Cube.

And then, of course, there is the reason he is now in prison.

Knight was hit with hit-and-run charges for allegedly killing Terry Carter, 55, as well as injuring Cle “Bone” Sloan, on January 29, 2015. Knight, while in the rear entrance of Tam’s Burgers, backed up his vehicle and hit Sloan, who was working security and working as a location scout on Straight Outta Compton. Seconds later, Knight sped through the front exit and hit a second man, Carter, who suffered a crushed skull and died from his injuries.

Suge Knight plead not guilty to the murder charges. Carter’s widow filed a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit. Ice Cube and Dr. Dre were involved in the case, and filed court papers demanding that they be removed from the lawsuit.

“These allegations plainly demonstrate that allowing Suge to remain at the base camp posed a serious risk that Suge could have injured someone at the camp — including Dr. Dre, Bone or one of the numerous cast and crew working on the film. Certainly, the risk that Suge might leave the base camp and proceed to his fatal confrontation with Carter was no more foreseeable than the possibility that Suge would injure or kill someone else if he had been permitted to stay.”
