San Diego Comic-Con 2016: AMC Releases ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Trailer For Season 2B, Luciana Introduced
San Diego Comic-Con is upon us again, and it is the best time of the year to find out exclusive new details about your favorite television shows. AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead panel presented fans with a brand new teaser trailer for Season 2B, which returns on August 21. So let’s break down the trailer and see what we can learn about the second half of Season 2.
- For starters, the new Fear the Walking Dead Comic-Con trailer shows Nick Clark (Frank Dillane) doing the thing he does best, which is looking like the undead and blending in with the infected. This concerns his mother, Madison (Kim Dickens), who is being overly protective even though he left the group in the mid-season finale of Fear the Walking Dead. But, she need not worry about him. Well, sort of. Like fans had seen in the previous Season 2B trailer for Fear, Nick does get injured. However, he is rescued and attended to by a new group of people. These people seem to be kind enough and somewhat involved with what looks like the drug cartel group that was invariably going to show up in Mexico.
- Fans got their first look at Danay Garcia’s character in Fear’s Comic-Con trailer. According to ComicBook.com, her name is Luciana, and they supply a description of Luciana and Nick’s relationship below.
“Luciana will be ‘testing’ Nick. Her community has rules. She explains that the Mexican culture has a unique take on death which is why they handle it differently than we’ve seen elsewhere. Nick ‘has to pass’ with the group’s rules to fit in.”
- The rules do seem a little strange, though, as the Comic-Con trailer shows Luciana leaving a man on a bus and watching on as he sacrifices himself to the infected. Judging by the reaction from both her and a small child with her, the man is someone close to them. It is unclear what they are doing by sacrificing the man, but it is still early in the zombie apocalypse, so perhaps they think they can keep the undead well-fed and out of their faces? Or, alternatively, perhaps the man had been bitten — and therefore infected — so had volunteered to die this way? Only by tuning into Season 2B of Fear the Walking Dead will reveal all.
- Madison, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Ofelia (Mercedes Mason), and Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) find shelter in a high-rise hotel even though Strand seems to still want to return to the Abigail. Perhaps they are just bunkering down for a while? Regardless of how long their planned stay was, in the latest Comic-Con trailer, it doesn’t go well, and Alicia gets stuck inside a lift well and Madison and Strand get stuck in a bar surrounded by the infected.
- Also in Fear’s Comic-Con trailer, look out for the brief happy wedding scene that seemed to occur before the zombie apocalypse followed by Madison walking into a deserted room with a wedding cake.
- What about Travis (Cliff Curtis) and his son, Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie)? In the new Comic-Con trailer, they are still wandering around the great outdoors. However, they do appear to meet up with some unfriendly folk.
- There is no sign of Alex (Michelle Ang) who survived Flight 462 in the Comic-Con trailer for Fear the Walking Dead. Sorry, guys.
If you are outside the U.S. and cannot view this video due to region coding, you can check out a code-free trailer here, but please be aware it is a commentary trailer and there is strong language used.
