Ted Cruz Gets Scolded By Phil Robertson, ‘Duck Dynasty’ Patriarch Gives No Sympathy For His Pal

Former presidential candidate Ted Cruz is not getting much sympathy from anyone at the moment after he failed to publicly endorse Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention this week. In fact, he ended up getting booed off the stage because of it. Even reality star Phil Robertson has now backed Trump after previously supporting the Texas senator before he had to drop out of the race for the nomination.

Robertson dropped by Fox & Friends on Thursday to talk about Wednesday night’s happenings and what he thought about Ted Cruz giving his memorable speech about voting your conscience instead of voting for Donald Trump. He thinks that his duck hunting buddy should give the presidential nominee his full support despite the fact that he lost to him.

“I mean give me a break Ted, go ahead and endorse the man. I mean, you lost, he won.”

Never one to mince words, the Duck Dynasty patriarch had no problem giving Cruz somewhat of a scolding about stepping up to endorse Trump and moving on from his loss. He said that everyone should learn to forgive each other, even in politics. While that is probably not going to happen anytime soon, Phil Robertson is hopeful that at least Ted Cruz will have a forgiving heart and vote for Donald Trump.

The A&E star still loves Ted, though. He mentioned what a terrific guy he is despite the fact that he is not the most bubbly person that he has seen. However, he said that his friend should be getting behind Trump.

“I love that dude [Cruz] but all the guys who lost and gals, they all need to swallow their pride and say the people [and] the Republican Party has said Donald Trump is the man we want in the White House.”

Early in the election process, Phil had endorsed Ted Cruz, while son Willie chose to support Donald Trump. Now that it is down to only one official Republican nominee, the elder Robertson has joined up with his son on the Trump train.

Phil has admitted that this will probably be his one and only convention that he will ever attend. He told the Hollywood Reporter’s Paul Bond in an interview that he is totally out of his element there in Cleveland. He is ready to get back home to the deep woods in Louisiana. He also said in the interview that he isn’t really bothered that Ted Cruz failed to give an official Trump endorsement, but that Ted should get behind the Republican Party.

“When you get to be a grown man, you make decisions for yourself. So he decided not to endorse Trump, but that was his call. So me, just a fellow Republican, I would’ve endorsed him, already have. Mr. Trump’s name is the one on the ballot. Mr. Cruz, his name is not on the ballot.”

The bearded Robertson doesn’t seem to be bothered by much at all. He doesn’t even mind being called various names by the media or on social outlets. It sounds like he doesn’t even keep track of any entertainment news, nor does he watch much television at all even though he does have his own reality show on TV. In fact, Phil said that he doesn’t even know who Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber are. That’s funny considering that the two high-profile singers are quickly seen in his new Christian film called Torchbearer. He did mention that he is only the narrator of the movie after all.

The film deals with what happens when men start taking over instead of God. He calls it brutal, but he said that it is a reality, as seen in years past when God is taken out of the equation and evilness takes over.

It sounds like Ted Cruz is not the only one who Phil Robertson is scolding these days. He is going around making short speeches and promoting the film’s message. Just like the man that he is now supporting to be our president, the Duck Dynasty star doesn’t seem to be backing down anytime soon.
