Bethenny Frankel ‘In Tears’ — Inside The ‘Real Housewives Of New York’ Star’s Emotional Meltdown

Bethenny Frankel hasn’t had a calm week. While the Real Housewives of New York star finally ended her longstanding divorce with Jason Hoppy, Radar Online reports that Frankel suffered an epic breakdown while filming the reunion special.

What caused Frankel to break into tears?

“Bethenny was sobbing,” an inside source told the outlet. “She had a complete meltdown.”

During the taping, host Andy Cohen went through a montage of Frankel’s behavior this season, including a few of her nastier arguments with co-stars. Apparently, Frankel had an epiphany after watching the clips and realized how bad she treated the other ladies on the show.

“She was genuinely upset by how she came across on screen,” the source continued. “Often, she doesn’t realize how she comes across.”

According to the Hollywood Gossip, Frankel had quite a number of feuds this season. In particular, the reality star has fought with Sonja Morgan, LuAnn de Lesseps, and newcomer Jules Wainstein.

Wainstein is experiencing her own divorce this season. Considering Frankel’s messy divorce with Hoppy, this probably didn’t make the montage any better.

Apart from the drama on RHONY this season, Frankel was exhausted for having to film for 12 straight hours with her co-stars and Cohen.

Of course, Frankel was also probably worn out from ironing out the last details of her divorce with Hoppy. Coupled together, it’s understandable that Frankel had an epic meltdown while filming RHONY.

According to Reality TV World, Frankel and Hoppy finalized their split after three and a half years of legal battles. Considering the lengthy divorce process, Frankel is unwilling to comment any further on the matter.

“Out of respect for the privacy and the well-being of her daughter, Bethenny is declining to comment,” Allen Mayesfsky, Frankel’s lawyer, explained. “We can confirm that the divorce has been resolved. Our client is ecstatic that this long chapter is over, and she is looking forward to moving on with her life.”

The details of their divorce were not made known to the public, though the monetary settlement likely cost both sides millions. For his part, Hoppy is also happy that the divorce is settled and that he and Bethenny Frankel can finally move on with their lives.

“Jason is thrilled that this chapter of his life is over; he is extremely pleased with the settlement that was reached,” Bernard Clair, Hoppy’s attorney, stated. “Jason looks forward to the future enjoying that time privately with family, friends and most important to him, his daughter.”

Frankel and Hoppy tied the knot back in March of 2010. Shortly after exchanging vows, they had their first and only daughter together, Bryn.

Custody of Bryn has been one of the reasons why the divorce proceedings lasted for so long.

In speaking about her divorce and lengthy custody battle, Frankel admitted that the process has been one of the most difficult things she has experienced in life.

“I really never expected it to be like this,” Frankel admitted. “I’ve had a pretty colorful past that hasn’t been the easiest, and this is, by far, the most excruciating thing I’ve ever even come close to being in.”

Clearly, Frankel’s emotions stemming from the divorce were part of the reasons behind her recent meltdown on the set of RHONY.

Fortunately, Frankel has found love once again with her current boyfriend, Dennis Shields, who also happens to be going through a divorce at the moment. At the same time, at least Frankel’s divorce with Hoppy is finally over and she can move on with her life.

New episodes of The Real Housewives of New York air Wednesday nights on Bravo. An official premiere date for the reunion episode has not been released.
