‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On’: Where’s The Big Announcement, TLC?
While fans of TLC’s Jill & Jessa: Counting On are impatiently waiting to hear when Season 2 will premiere, TLC seems to be keeping quiet. Many are wondering what the hold up is and why they are not more prominently promoting the show.
If you took to the internet to search for the news of Jill & Jessa: Counting On’s Season 2 renewal, you would be hard pressed to find anything of the sort. This is because TLC chose to hide the news within the announcement of Jinger Duggar’s courtship.

Back on June 20, People announced that Jinger Duggar was in a courtship with soccer player Jeremy Vuolo. The story quickly went viral, but most missed the single sentence at the end of the article stating there would be a new season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On.
“The pair’s courtship will be a big part of the new season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On.”
The Duggar family has been dealing with social media backlash ever since the news broke that their oldest son, Josh Duggar, was involved in two sexual scandals. First, it was revealed that Josh had sexually molested several of his younger sisters when he was a teenager. While the police report did not contain the names of the involved sisters, it did contain their ages, which made it easy for anyone to calculate by age the identity of the sisters involved.
Instead of attempting to avoid the media, two of the sisters involved, Jill and Jessa, took part in a special where they addressed the sexual molestation. Many believe this is where the idea for Jill & Jessa: Counting On originally began.
Soon after the scandal had finally blown over, a second scandal broke involving Josh again. This time, Josh was tied to an account on the website Ashley Madison. The website is essentially a dating website for married men or women. Josh confirmed that he had cheated on his wife, Anna Duggar, while she was pregnant with their fourth child.
TLC could not shut down the social media storm Josh’s actions caused, and the network made the decision to cancel the Duggar family show, 19 Kids and Counting.
Jill & Jessa: Counting On replaced 19 Kids and Counting and was promoted as a show that would show the lives of the older sisters as they moved on from the scandals their brother had created.
At first Jill & Jessa: Counting On was wildly popular with 19 Kids and Counting fans, but many soon grew bored with the many flashbacks the show would use as filler. Eventually, Jill & Jessa: Counting On seemed to be 20 percent new footage and 80 percent flashbacks from 19 Kids and Counting.
Counting On ran into even more problems when sponsors started pulling their ads because they did not want their product to be associated with the scandal revolving around the Duggar family. It was unclear for quite some time if the show was going to be renewed for a second season.
Now that fans know Jill & Jessa: Counting On has been renewed for Season 2, fans want to know why they haven’t heard any more about when the show will start. Other than the one sentence reference in People, TLC has made no official announcement that Counting On is returning. There have been no promos for the show, and no official air date has been released for the Season 2 premiere. All fans know right now is the show should be returning later this summer.
