WWE News: Nikki Bella Appears To Be On The Comeback Trail After Receiving Good News From Doctor
Nikki Bella has been out of action for roughly 10 months due to a herniated disk in her neck. Bella had surgery on her neck in January and has been going through intense rehab ever since in an attempt to return to the ring as soon as possible.
Nikki talked about the details of her injury in an interview with Jess Cohen of E! Online back in January.
“I have basically a broken neck, a pretty bad herniated disk,” Nikki Bella said. “What makes mine a little bit [more] difficult than most people is that I have some disk behind my vertebrae so with a lot of prayers we’re gonna pray that the doctors can get the piece behind my vertebrae with just a bone fusion.”
“There is a potential that this is career-ending. We will only know that when I get out of surgery on Wednesday and then basically how the bone heals Wednesday. So that’s been tough but I truly have such hope that I will get to compete in that ring another day, I really do.”
On Tuesday, Nikki tweeted that she was headed to her doctor to get an MRI to find out the progression of the healing on her neck.

Apparently, the results of the MRI were encouraging as Bella sent out another tweet on Thursday morning that should get WWE fans pretty pumped.

That’s right, WWE fans, it seems as if the most popular wrestler in the Women’s division, is on the comeback trail. While Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch have done a nice job holding things down, the WWE Women’s division doesn’t feel the same without Nikki Bella.
While Nikki may be beginning her path back to the ring, her famous finishing move, the Rack Attack, won’t be coming along with her. Later in that interview with Cohen, Bella revealed that her doctors believe that the move could be the cause of her neck injury.
“For now the Rack Attack will be officially retired,” Nikki Bella said. “I’ve been told by doctors to never do that again so we do feel that because my injury is in such a unique place in my spine we do feel that it could’ve come [from] the Rack Attack so the girls in the future better watch out for my killer forearm because I might not be hitting them with the Rack Attack but I’ll definitely be hitting them with that forearm.”
As great as the news is that Bella will be returning to the ring, it will interesting to see what the creative team’s plans for her are once she’s back on the main roster. During the WWE draft on SmackDown Live on Tuesday night, Nikki Bella, along with other injured superstars Luke Harper, Tyson Kidd, and Heath Slater, went undrafted.
Common sense would say that Nikki is a prime candidate to be placed on Monday Night RAW in order to challenge Charlotte, the WWE Women’s champion. Bella is the most popular female wrestler on the WWE roster and could be instantly instilled as the No. 1 contender for the Women’s title once she’s ready to return to action.
At the same time, Nikki’s longtime boyfriend, John Cena, is one of the biggest faces on the SmackDown Live roster, and the two could have a desire to compete on the same night. Bella would also be at the top of the food chain on for the Women’s division on SmackDown.
It’ll be interesting to see what route the WWE decides to go with Nikki. Either way, Nikki Bella is on her way back to the ring, and WWE fans should be ecstatic about that.
