Will ‘The Originals’ Season 4 See A Time Jump? How Old Will Hope Be?

Fans may have to wait until January 2017 to watch The Originals Season 4, but it seems that the decision by the CW may have helped. Julie Plec shared that it meant a time jump was made much more possible than before, especially to move further forward than The Vampire Diaries. Could it mean that Hope will be much older than previously seen?

The last time the Mikaelsons were seen, their fates were left in the hands of Hayley and her baby daughter Hope. The two left New Orleans with four coffins in the back of the van containing Elijah, Kol, Rebekah, and Freya. Where was Klaus? Locked away behind a wall with Papa Tunde’s dagger inside him. Marcel had won, and it looked like the complete end for the Original Family.

It turns out that Hayley will work hard to find a way to save them this season, but it isn’t going to happen overnight. The Vampire Diaries had already hinted that it would take three years, and The Inqusitir had already reported that there was going to be some sort of a time jump between The Originals Seasons 3 and 4.

Showrunner Plec says that the show will jump further forward than The Vampire Diaries, and that was made possible with the January 2017 start. It’s not been confirmed how far ahead the show will jump, but some theories are that the show will be set six or seven years into the future.

According to Blasting News, a casting notice was set out for a girl aged six or seven. The girl will need to have dark blonde or brown hair (the same colors as Klaus and Hayley) and has just been titled “young daughter.” Is this a sign that the crew is looking for an older girl to play Hope Mikaelson? Will the show be set six or seven years into the future, skipping over some of the time Hayley spends looking for a way to save the people who have become her family?

It would allow Hope to become more of a vital role in The Originals Season 4. Despite being a baby, she had an important role from the start, and it is possible that she will be the one to save her father, uncles, and aunts. Could her blood become the key to a cure for Marcel’s bite on Elijah and Kol? Maybe her blood will cure Freya and Rebekah of their poison and curse.

While six years will be a big time jump for Hope, it won’t be too big of a jump for Hayley and the Mikaelsons. Apart from Freya, they are all immortal and have time to find cures. In her sleep, it is possible that Freya will also have a lot more time, as it was the same spell used to keep her alive for a century already.

Another theory is that Davina will somehow return to stop Marcel and save Kol. Will her love for Kol overpower her hatred for Klaus and the other Mikaelsons?

The Originals Season 4 has already started filming, but there are no signs of this young girl. It is possible that scenes for her haven’t started yet or that they’re being kept quiet to avoid spoiling too much for the next season. The premiere will be sometime in January 2017, as the CW wants a stronger start.

How far into the future will The Originals jump? What does it mean for Hope and Hayley? Does it mean there will be no crossovers between The Originals and The Vampire Diaries?
