Lady Gaga Breaks Silence Over Taylor Kinney Breakup — Is The Engagement Still On?

Lady Gaga is breaking her silence amid reports claiming that she and fiancé Taylor Kinney have officially split, but did she just confirm that the two are actually still on?

Gaga took to Instagram to address the swirling breakup rumors on July 20, telling fans in a heartfelt message that she and the Chicago Fire actor were simply “taking a break” and still “really love each other.”

Appearing to deny reports claiming that the she and Taylor have officially broken up for good, Gaga told fans that she and Kinney have “always believed we are soulmates.”

“Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break,” Gaga continued, captioning a black and white photo of herself and Kinney with their arms around each other.

Lady Gaga then went on to reveal that she and Taylor were both hoping to reconcile, blaming their break on their busy schedules.

“We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared,” Gaga wrote. “Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other.”

Lady Gaga’s heartfelt social media message to her fans came just hours after numerous sources claimed that the two had officially broken up and called off their engagement.

The report came shortly after Us Weekly revealed that Gaga was spotted in Mexico without her engagement ring this week and amid swirling rumors that Lady Gaga and Taylor’s busy schedules were getting in the way of their relationship.

A source confirmed to People this week that the twosome were “taking a break” from their relationship, more than two years after Kinney popped the question to Lady Gaga on Valentine’s Day 2014, but noted that the two both want to make things work.

An insider close to the couple told the site that Gaga’s busy schedule and Kinney’s Chicago Fire work commitments “kept them apart a lot” and claimed that their long distance love put a serious strain on Lady Gaga and Taylor’s romance.

“She’s working on an album, he’s working on his show, they aren’t in the same state, it was just hard,” a source told People this week of Gaga and Taylor. “They both love each other very much and they want it to work. It’s just been tough with the long distance.”

The break news likely comes as a shock to Lady Gaga’s fans, though the popstar had been notably coy when it came to discussing her and Kinney’s wedding in recent months.

Back in February, Gaga made the rare decision to speak out about tying the knot with Taylor in an interview with On Air With Ryan Seacrest, wherein she confirmed that the two were planning their wedding with their families.

Ryan Seacrest quizzed Gaga on what she and Kinney had up their sleeves for their wedding, to which the “Born This Way” singer told the former American Idol host that she and Taylor were looking for a “family style” bash.

Lady Gaga also confirmed at the time that her family were giving her a big hand in planning for the big day.

“I think if I wouldn’t let my mom do this with all of us and my family… I think if I would have denied the women of my life the planning of the wedding they would probably just kill me,” Gaga joked of wedding planning, confirming in the radio interview that she and Kinney were getting “all the help in the world.”
