Constantine, John Constantine, Hellblazer, and The Hellblazer, are some of the many names for the chain-smoking, sarcastic, quick-witted, British bloke who happens to moonlight as a paranormal crime fighter, when he isn’t taking odd and horrifying trips to the beach where he gets exposed to radiation and has a seal baby with some radioactive melting lady.
Constantine fans know that the character was always going to be tough to translate and bring to the big or small screen, and though his big screen debut with a morose Keanu Reeves brought a little less than expected from the DC/Vertigo Comics pages, his brief stint on NBC’s Constantine Season 1 turned out be fairly successful.
Alas! The television industry is a cruel, cruel place, and NBC seems to be the Cruella DeVille of the group. Case in point, despite a rabid Constantine fanbase and 3.5 million active viewers each week, NBC canned Constantine . Though, they did cap it off at a somewhat reasonable place in the series with Season 1 Episode 13 being its final showing on the peacock network.
What followed was an impressive Twitter campaign to revive the show from showrunner Daniel Cerone, and #Constantine and #SaveConstantine crowd, but it was not to be.

The CW is the talk of the Constantine crowd now, after an Arrow episode that saw record ratings for a season generally hated by the CW’s Arrow fans, but it is the most recent development that has had Constantine fans talking. The Inquisitr reported that CW placed Constantine Season 1 on its streaming platform CW Seed , where many of its show’s past seasons are also located.
Constantine Season 2 speculation is red hot right now, as the Constantine fanbase and Save Constantine crowd have not gone away, and rekindle their passion at the first sight of any new information. So, what are the chances for a CW Constantine Season 2? Well, Comicbook opined early this week that they see Constantine’s return to be quite likely.
However, their opinion seemed to be more on the side of John Constantine reappearing on various DCTV Universe shows like Arrow or Legends of Tomorrow . The likelihood of Constantine’s entrance into the Legends of Tomorrow team has been high for some time, and slots on said team are still open, so that theory could easily pan out.
Constantine fans have had a silent picket line for a Season 2 from any network since Daniel Cerone announced on Twitter that an NBC Constantine Season 2 was dead. Speaking of Cerone, Constantine Season 2 speculation has been so high, that even he had to address the situation on Twitter, and tell Constantine fans what he knows about the situation.
“I see there are new rumblings of # Constantine on CW. I’ve heard nothing but will put out some feelers and see what I can learn. # Hellblazers”
Constantine showrunners have no idea, so for any other opinion to come out of the woodwork is certainly pure speculation, but some reasonable, educated guesses are certainly fair at this stage of the game. To add speculation to speculation, according to Comicbook, DC Collectibles will be putting out DCTV Universe based action figures in early 2017.
They feature Vixen, Supergirl, The Atom, and the Matt Ryan version of Constantine . You heard that right. So, the CW brings over the entirety of NBC’s version of Constantine, the Season 1 story and universe, the actor Matt Ryan, adds Constantine Season 1 to their streaming service, and now there is a version of said character in stone. Well, in plastic, but you get the point. The CW and DC are going through an awful lot of work for a character from the DCTV Universe that has been abandoned with no hope of return.

So, let’s get firmly into the speculation mode. Constantine , as in NBC’s Constantine Matt Ryan, will return for guest appearances. Constantine being added to other shows like Legends of Tomorrow is also very likely, but Constantine Season 2 is by far and large the least likely of the speculation. With all of the attention he has been getting, and if the CW Seed numbers are high, the CW would be likely be stupid to pass up on continuing the show.
After all, the CW already has the DCTV presence all under one roof, and they wouldn’t be “creating” another show to just bring over John Constantine . Constantine and the CW make sense together. #Save Constantine warriors, now is your time to make some proverbial noise, and maybe some loud sharing.
