Drake’s Music: Rapper Shares Letter He Wrote To Mom In 2006
Drake’s music was once on hard times, and he shares a personal letter written to his mom a decade ago. Everyone — even Drake — has a backstory. All successful artists go through that rough, “upcoming” period.
This is typically the part of their careers you don’t see in media coverage. If you weren’t paying attention, it almost seemed like Drake’s music skyrocketed overnight. However, in reality, it was a long-time work-in-progress.

Via Drake’s Instagram, he shares a photo of a letter capturing the struggle with spending habits he experienced during his early music career. It was brief, but Drake’s letter packed a lot of information about his situation at the time. The letter reads as follows.
“Dear Mom,
I have cancelled my Wireimage subscription due to my Ebay charges coming to more than I had planned for. Please know that you will [be] reimbursed fully through several methods and/or means of payment.
Thanks for temporarily funding my music and wardrobe.
Your biz partner,
[Signature]”
Drake’s photo caption mentioned that he once had an addiction to Ebay at that age. At the time of the letter, Drake’s age was possibly 18. Who wasn’t addicted to Ebay back in the day?
He even recalled the probability of purchasing Evisu jeans. Yet, Drake’s music has certainly repaid the debt to his mother.

Complex mentions that Drake’s music was just coming on the scene. Around that time, the Views artist was finishing up his role as Jimmy on the Canadian teen soap Degrassi.
Via Drake’s Instagram, he shared another reminiscent photo. This one was regarding his very first live show as a musical artist.
According to the picture, Drake’s first show was on May 13, 2009, in Toronto, Canada. He was promoted by Serious Entertainment at the time.
Drake’s photo caption reads, “My first show ever. Now Summer Sixteen Tour is 3 days away.”

In case you’re wondering about the success or failure of Drake’s first live show, you can check the video below. It seems that the crowd was definitely into his performance.

As can be seen from the video, Drake’s nostalgic performance happened at the Sound Academy. This isn’t an unfamiliar place for Drizzy.
In 2015, an unofficial Drake documentary was filmed at the location. Covered by Noisey, the source labeled it as “lost footage” of Drake’s earlier years.
Of course, it was deemed “unofficial” because Drake didn’t actually have any part in its creation. At the time, Drizzy took to Twitter in order to clarify any confusion about the film project.
The Drake Homecoming film is not something OVO or Drake have any part in. I feel it is my responsibility to inform and protect my fans.

As can be seen, the official name of the unofficial documentary was The Drake Homecoming.
Nevertheless, while Drake spent time reminiscing about old days, he also encountered the likes of rap lyricist Joe Budden.
Drake has been challenged by Budden numerous times. Several of those times, Drake ignored the taunts and invites. However, for some reason, he finally bit.
Yesterday, July 17, Drake responded to Joe via a verse on his “No Shopping” collaboration with French Montana.
While Drake probably thought he had time to revel in his comeback, Budden hit him with a response just hours later. Several listeners deemed the response as one of heavy magnitude.
The Inquisitr reported on both stories in previous articles.
If going by “turns,” it’s now Drake’s time to respond to Budden if he chooses to continue the beef. Like Joe said in his comeback, it’s not the same type of situation he had with Meek Mill.
Drake’s actually dealing with someone known to rule battle rap venues.
Overall, what are your thoughts regarding Drake’s nostalgic and reminiscent posts? Drizzy Drake has come a long way, right? Feel free to share your comments below.
