‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell Reveals Sexy New Image From Season 5 Russian Flashbacks

Ever since Season 4 of Arrow ended, fans haven’t stopped speculating about the upcoming season. And a new photo of star Stephen Amell on set only adds to that speculation.

Amell has already hinted how the new season will be less about super powers and more about hand to hand combat when it comes to cleaning up Star City, as he said in an interview with EW.

“Even though Supergirl is joining the ranks, there’s no new person or new show to introduce this year, and I think as a result of that, we need to get back to focusing more on some of the core elements that used to define Arrow,” he said. “To me, that’s hand-to-hand combat, no superpowers, and dealing with the job of cleaning up Star City.”

And now, Amell has teased fans once again with a shirtless picture of himself on the set of Season 5.

According to Collider, Amell teased fans via Facebook by proclaiming that a shirtless scene in the Season 5 premiere meant he had to get back into the gym.

And if the image he just posted on Instagram is any indication, he is clearly back into fighting shape.

“Suffice to say that episode 501 of Arrow has the opportunity for us to have the most vicious, violent one-shot in the history of network television. I insisted that it’s gonna be me, no stunt double, and he [Director James Bamford] said fine, but you have to do it shirtless,” Amell said during a live Facebook stream while he was working out in an undisclosed location.

Arrow Season 5 will be the last year of flashbacks before Oliver Queen’s backstory catches up with the moment fans first met him back in the Season 1 premiere in October 2012, reveals IDigitalTimes.

During the Season 4 finale flashbacks, Oliver made a promise to return to Taiana’s village in Russia to free her people being oppressed. This had occurred moments before she asked him to kill her so wouldn’t become completely possessed by the secret totem they picked up on Lian Yu.

Season 5 will answer all things Russian, as Amell previously revealed, while also answering questions fans have had since square one. Questions such as where did Oliver learn to speak Russian? How did he get his Bratva tattoo? And of course, why did he get so deeply involved with the Russian mafia in the first place?

Zap2it also confirms that fans will be in for an in-depth discovery regarding Oliver’s Russian ties in the new season.

However, the photo Amell posted is clearly a flashback of Oliver. Not only does Oliver have his long hair back, but more importantly is his chest. There’s no Bratva tattoo.

If the photo is indeed a flashback, then the image could be from a scene depicting when Oliver was first initiated?

This would also go along with the rumors that the newest season won’t be so superpower heavy, especially since fans already know that Barry Allen’s timeline decision he made on The Flash to induce “Flashpoint” won’t necessarily affect Arrow.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Arrow fans won’t be seeing any new faces. Comicbook reveals that some of those new faces include Josh Segarra has joined as Vigilante, Rick Gonzalez will play Wild Dog, Madison McLaughling will be Artemis, and The Walking Dead alum Chad L. Coleman will play gangster character Tobias Church.
