Courteney Cox Directs Daughter Coco In Foy Vance Music Video
Coco, daughter of former Friends star Courteney Cox and her ex-husband David Arquette, is starring in a Foy Vance music video of the same name, and she is all grown up.
Twelve-year-old Coco Arquette looks totally relaxed and confident as she acts like herself in the sentimental new song “Coco.” According to the Belfast Telegraph, Coco inspired Vance to not only write the song, but to have her starring in the resulting video, which has, in turn, been directed by mother Courteney.
Cox, 52, met the singer-songwriter through her Snow Patrol rocker boyfriend, Johnny McDaid, 39. Reportedly, the pair have been pals for a while via their shared Northern Irish and music roots.

Courteney told People, “Johnny brought Foy into my life a few years ago, and, immediately, he became a very close friend. He also got to know my daughter, Coco, and a song was born.”
According to the former Friends star, the video is like a “snapshot of the world as seen through a child’s eyes.. sung by a man who is moved by how the world seems from her perspective.”“From the first time Foy played ‘Coco’ for me – and every time I’ve heard it since – I’ve felt he captured, not only Coco’s unique personality but also the beautiful childhood innocence that sadly, but inevitably, fades with time.”
“I think it’s a perspective that we, as adults, never stop longing for,” said Courtney.
Cox is not new to directing as she has in the past directed episodes of Cougar Town and also the drama Just Before I Go. She was also involved in directing Kodaline’s “Love Will Set You Free” music video last year, making her the ideal candidate for “Coco.”

“I was thrilled when Foy asked if I would direct the video for ‘Coco.’ My hope is that I conveyed in a visual way the many levels of feeling that Foy’s song so brilliantly expressed,” she added. “I am struck and continue to be struck by Foy’s incredible soul as a musician and father. He is a truly unique human being, and I am proud to call him a friend.”
As for Foy himself, he said the song and the accompanying video came together organically and that the old saying “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” was very appropriate for mother and daughter, Courteney and Coco.

“As soon as I wrote the song ‘Coco’ – which started out as an off the cuff verse to make Coco laugh – it was obvious that Courteney would direct the video,” Vance said. “They both have such beautifully inquisitive spirits and kind hearts. Mix that with a killer sense of humor and you’ve got the Courteney/Coco double act!”
Besides his impressive performance in the “Coco” music video, Vance is doing pretty well for himself. He has signed on to his friend Ed Sheeran’s record label and in May released his second LP, The Wild Swan. Foy will be heading out on the road this fall to tour.
As for young Coco, she certainly has the talent to go a long way and will certainly make her mother Courteney proud.
