Nintendo Brings Back The NES And It Looks Like It Will Be Awesome!

If Pokemon Go is not really your thing because you are an old school gamer, then check out the latest Nintendo has to offer. No, it’s not an advertisement for the old NES console from the early days of gaming. The console below is actually the brand new, retro-looking console Nintendo is releasing. This console brings back the NES of yesteryear and even includes many of the original NES games.

According to the Chicago Tribute, the original NES system was released in 1985 and was an instant hit. “We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer.

Nintendo brings old-school game playing to life just the way they did in the 80s. By plugging your brand new Classic Edition NES into your television, you can start enjoying your NES right away. While the new NES is a smaller version of the original NES gaming system, it doesn’t mean gamers will miss out on any classic game play.

The new Nintendo NES brings gaming back to the way it used to be when the NES was first released. However, that doesn’t mean you have to limited the new NES to just the one way of play. Nintendo released the following statement about the new Classic Edition NES.

“Play NES games the way they’re meant to be played—with a full-size ‘original’ controller. The included NES Classic Controller can also be used with NES Virtual Console games on your Wii™ or Wii U™ console by connecting it to a Wii Remote™ controller.”

But what’s in the box? According to Nintendo, the NES contains the following.

  • One NES Classic Controller
  • HDMI cable
  • AC adapter
  • 30 pre-installed games

That’s right, 30 pre-installed games! The full list of classic 8-bit games included on the Classic Edition NES is below.

Nintendo also brings some extra gameplay to the table. By purchasing extra NES controllers, gamers can play games such as Pac-Man, TECMO BOWL, and Dr. Mario with their friends. Additional controllers have a recommended retail price of $9.99, with the Classic Edition NES expecting to retail around $59.99.

Nintendo brings back Classic NES, but not until November 11, 2016. So gamers will have to wait just that little bit longer for their next hit of Nintendo gaming. However, it is not as long a wait as it will be for Nintendo’s upcoming gaming console, the Nintendo NX. According to TechRadar, the Nintendo NX is likely to be released around March of 2017.

While Nintendo fans are excited about the new NX, little is actually known about Nintendo’s newest console. Nothing was released about it at this year’s E3 event, however, TechRadar speculates the console could involve VR (Virtual Reality) technology after Nintendo admitted to “researching” VR technology during a recent shareholders meeting.

But, until there is any concrete news about Nintendo’s NX, fans can revel in the knowledge that later this year Nintendo is bringing back the classic NES gaming console.
