Bambi Shiley: Mom Who ‘Refuses To Care’ For Kids In Feces-Filled Hell-Home Learns Fate After Dad Goes To Jail
Bambi Shiley, a 36-year-old Ohio mom of three kids, learned how much time she’ll be spending behind bars for the way she chose to raise those kids — in a home that investigators described as “smeared” with feces, and in which all of their children suffered neglect, according to prosecutors, but one child in particular suffered an unimaginably awful daily existence.
In handing down the mom’s sentence Tuesday in Ohio’s Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas, Judge Scott Kirchbaum did not mince words, telling Bambi Shiley that he “had nothing but disrespect” for her, according to a report by WYTV News.
“How can we reach a point where someone fails or refuses to care for a child and they have to go to the penitentiary?” a disgusted Kirchbaum said from the bench. “What in the world is going on here?”
In late June, the dad of the three children, 39-year-old Ronald Hingham — a previously convicted sex offender — was sent to jail for 18 months on a single count of endangering a child, after he took a plea deal that led to two other counts of the charge being dropped by prosecutors.

Here’s what happened.
In May of last year, police in Struthers, Ohio, where Shiley and Hingham lived with the three children, ages 11 to 14, showed up at their home after receiving worried calls from school officials who said the children of Shiley and Hingham often missed school and when they did show up, they appeared dirty, unhealthy, and poorly cared for.
When the officers approached the home, they had not even entered when the strong smell of human feces hit them. When they went inside, they found the house in an extremely unhygienic state, with dried feces “caked” on the walls, according to a police description reported by WFMJ TV News.

Garbage was strewn in some areas, and dirty diapers were reportedly piled so thickly that the floor was not even visible. But what was even more shocking to the investigators was the state of the oldest child, a 14-year-old boy who, it turned out, was the source of the soiled diapers.
When they entered the home, officers found the boy with liquid diarrhea streaming down his leg, and more dried fecal matter encrusting his buttocks, legs, and even his genital area.
The eighth-grader was also experiencing bleeding from his rectum, and suffered from numerous open sores.
When he was finally taken to a doctor — something that mom Bambi Shiley admitted she had not done for her child since 2014 — the boy was found to have what amounted to third-degree burns, resulting from the feces stuck to his legs without being cleaned for an indeterminate period of time.
