Jason Bateman is among the everybody excited for the additional Arrested Development we are all getting after the hugely popular yet then-under-appreciated show was canceled so many years back — but the star, in his fervor, has been leaking spoilers on Twitter accidentally and says he’s gotten in trouble for his big microblogging mouth.
Bateman plays Michael Bluth on Arrested Development , the show’s protagonist and probably the most morally sound of the Bluth clan. And according to Vulture.com , Bateman was at the Toronto Film Festival to promote the new film Disconnect (in which he stars with True Blood hottie Alexander Skarsgard), and he was predictably bombarded with questions about … Arrested Development .
It seems that much of the time for many of the actors, all rabid fans want to talk about is the much-awaited revival of the show — and Bateman is among them. As he takes to Twitter to update fans about the show’s progress, it seems he’s managed to invoke the ire of creator Mitchell Hurwitz — Bateman explains:
“Well, I wanted to take a shot on the first day of lights and camera and, like, ‘obviously, he’s on a set,’ and in that shot are a couple of cast members from a show Workaholics . And after I took that picture, like hours afterwards, I was talking to those actors and a kid came up asking for their autograph. And I said, ‘Are you guys in a movie or a show or something?’ And they were like, ‘Yeah, we’re in this show called Workaholics .’”
Bateman continues:
And I was like, ‘Oh cool, I gotta see that.’ And then of course once the Tweet was up, I’d already sent out the Tweet, but I didn’t put two and two together and a day later I saw that it was all over the boards: ‘Oh my god! The Workaholics are in it!’ Mitch said, ‘Hey man …’ [does scowling Mitch impersonation].”
In the interview, Bateman confirms that the stair car is going to return for the new Arrested Development.
