Lil Wayne Potentially Facing New Assault Lawsuit

Any addict who has gone through hell and back will tell you that not only is relapse a vital part of recovery, but things sometimes have to get worse before they can get better. Unfortunately for Dwayne Carter, better known as Lil Wayne, there may not even be a chance for things to even have a chance at getting better with the hell his life has become.

After suffering yet another seizure earlier this week in an incident on his private jet to make an emergency stop in Omaha, the “Got Money” rapper is now facing a lawsuit that claims he allegedly attacked a bouncer in Hollywood, California, last month.

TMZ, who was the first to break the news, reported the following on Thursday morning.

“The bouncer’s attorney — Arsineh Aghakhani from Los Angeles City Law — says she’s preparing the lawsuit against Lil Wayne for battery after her client claims the rapper attacked him while working the door last month at Hyde nightclub for a BET Awards after-party.”

From the get-go, Wayne’s camp has stressed that the entire incident was a misunderstanding and some facts have been embellished. For example, Wayne did not at all punch the bouncer — who has been working in the 33-year-old rapper’s VIP section, rather than the front door, as is alleged in the lawsuit. Wayne’s camp has also argued the confrontation occurred because the worker accidentally grabbed Wayne’s arm.

Regardless of what truly went on that night in Hollywood, the bad news continues to pile for the father of four. Between multiple seizures in the past few months — some of which can be blamed on the rapper’s diagnosed epilepsy, while others are attributed to Wayne’s heavy reliance on the cough syrup-turned-drug, sizzurp — and reportedly going broke, the hip hop legend’s life is rapidly falling apart.

This, obviously, is not the first time that Wayne has gotten in trouble with the law, nor is it the first time the former mentor of Drake and Nicki Minaj has been involved in a lawsuit. In December, 2015, Carter was sued by Michael Kramer, the same lawyer he had hired to handle the $51 million lawsuit against Cash Money. The following is the report according to XXL.

“According to the lawsuit, Lil Wayne agreed to pay a $20,000 initial retainer and subsequent monthly bills in July 2013. But Wayne failed to pay his bills according to Kramer’s suit. Kramer’s law firm continued to bill Wayne from November 2014 to October 2015. Kramer ultimately dropped Wayne as a client this past September due to Wayne’s debt. In the lawsuit, Kramer says he “made numerous attempts to resolve the dispute amicably. These attempts were ultimately unsuccessful.”

Wayne was also sued in October, 2015, by the law firm Garbett, Allen, and Roza for $80,000 in unpaid legal fees, a firm representing Wayne in a lawsuit against the Signature Group, a company that leases private jets. After Wayne lost the lawsuit and was ordered to pay the company $2 million, the rapper was forced to put his skate park up for collateral as he took out a $1.5 million loan to pay the Signature Group.

The one outlet that could potentially provide any sort of hope for Carter, music, is essentially caught between two sides for the dreadlocked star. Though he continues to provide vocals in guest appearances with rappers like 2 Chainz and Chance the Rapper, the idea of Wayne releasing a new solo project remains a mystery. After multiple delays that have nearly put it on the same level as Dr. Dre’s Detox, there has been no recent word from Wayne about the release of what he’s promised will be his final album: The Carter V.

Birdman, who Wayne filed a lawsuit against but is now apparently on good terms with, said the following on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning in May regarding The Carter V.

“I think it’s more of a misunderstanding than money issue. If you knew me you’d know I always gave Wayne anything and everything he always wanted. Our train is still moving… I think it’s a lot of misunderstanding and me and him talk but you’d best believe that situation’s gonna work itself out. Whatever he want, I’m fine with. I ain’t gonna stop him, I’m gonna embrace it. Wayne is a boss. I would never stop him from doing nothing. He’s still putting out records, I could stop that s*** if I wanted to. I ain’t gonna stop him from hustling.”
