Kristen Bell? And ?Dax Shepard’s?? Healthy Marriage — They Make It Work
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s marriage is still going strong three years in after having two children, finding the perfect strategy to avoiding major fights, and helping one another through personal issues.
Kristen Bell recently did a cover story for Redbook magazine, promoting her new comedy Bad Moms. The Veronica Mars actress talked about her marriage with Dax, how they keep their sex life alive and being a working mother.

The actress revealed that she loved the idea of having the upper-hand in a heated argument by making a “dramatic exit,” but that wasn’t really Dax’s style. He told her that if she wasn’t willing to sit and talk it out, regardless of what the issue was, then he simply couldn’t continue with the relationship. No more dramatic exists for Kristen.
“We fought a lot and I loved a dramatic exit. If I could slam a door, I felt so powerful. If I could get in my car and screech away, it was even better,” Bell told the magazine. “He said to me, ‘If we have an issue, you can’t leave. We’re going to talk or I’m not going to do this with you.’ I loved him so much that I was like, ‘I better get my act together.'”
And the married couple has been able to avoid those nasty tabloids and headlines suggesting rumors of divorce and “major meltdowns.” Dax Shepard humorously suggested a wife swap with Conan O’Brien’s wife, Liza Powel O’Brien, but both Kristen and Dax are able to maintain a healthy sense of humor.
The two have had their own personal problems they have helped one another get through. Kristen Bell has dealt with depression and anxiety while Dax Shepard is almost 13 years sober and in recovery. Kristen even admits that couples counseling has helped greatly in maintaining a healthy marriage.
“You do better in the gym with a trainer; you don’t figure out how to cook without reading a recipe,” the actress explained. “Therapy is not something to be embarrassed about.”
Kristen and Dax have two daughters, 3-year-old Lincoln and 1-year-old Delta, but both parents still manage to carve out time for personal intimacy when they can. Their sex life doesn’t sound like it’s diminished at all.
“We’re pretty decent about staying on top of it. We’ll be like, ‘Okay, it’s been how many days?’ We find a night when nobody is coming over and we don’t have to work super-early in the morning, and then we slot it in.”
In fact, everything is good as long as they’re not interrupted from watching HBO’s Game of Thrones. Both Dax and Kristen have been very big fans of the fantasy series, along with the rest of society, and they even attended the Season 6 premiere while wearing matching House Baratheon tattoos.
And being a mother has helped Kristen Bell grow tremendously. Her new film, Bad Moms, from the guys who wrote the Hangover films, is all about a group of mothers choosing to abandon their normal responsibilities and enjoy their freedom. One of Kristen’s co-stars is actress Mila Kunis, who is married who Ashton Kutcher, who worked with Dax Shepard years ago on MTV’s Punk’d series.
“The goal of the movie is to remind us that there are so many different types of parents out there. And that’s great, because there are so many different types of kids,” Kristen said of the R-rated comedy. “The movie is saying, ‘We see you, we hear you, we get you. We’re all on the same team here.'”
Bad Moms, which stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Christina Applegate, and Jada Pinkett Smith, arrives in theaters July 29, 2016.
