Aside from their Galaxy S series, Samsung has a slightly more premium line-up of smartphones in the form of the Galaxy Note series. Since the last iteration of Samsung’s Galaxy Note handset was released in September, 2015, there’s been widespread speculation centered around when Samsung would make the move on their next device. The manufacturer is always keen to stay one step ahead of their closest rival, Apple, and as such, they plan to officially unveil their Galaxy Note 7 at an event in August.
As aforementioned, the next addition to the Samsung Galaxy line up was expected to be unveiled and released in September, much like it’s predecessor was in 2015. However, according to Digital Spy , Samsung now looks set to shake things up a little, bringing the Galaxy Note 7’s release forward by one month to August, 2016. As is customary of new product announcements, Samsung is set to hold a large-scale event on August 2, where they’ll officially show off the Galaxy Note 7 and announce when it’ll be available.
The announcement around the Galaxy Note 7 is set to be made in a matter of weeks, with Samsung already sending out invitations to the August 2 event. Samsung will then likely confirm the handset’s release date for later that month. However, it’s worth noting that those dates are likely to vary for each market Samsung releases the Note 7 in.
For Samsung, their Galaxy Note handsets have always been their larger offering. Whilst March’s release of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge focused on introducing Samsung’s latest technology to consumers, the Galaxy Note 7 is likely to be a more refined product, with a focus on business use. That’s especially prevalent with Samsung’s inclusion of a stylus with their Galaxy Note smartphones, an inclusion that’s likely to be continued with the release of the Galaxy Note 7 in August, 2016.

That being said, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expected to pack in some pretty nifty features of its own. According to Geeky Gadgets , it’s now an almost certainty that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will include waterproof functionality . Dust and water resistance have become something of a staple selling feature of Samsung’s most recent devices. However, the manufacturer has still been unable to master the ability to create a completely waterproof device, which is something they’ll be hoping to achieve with the release of the Galaxy Note 7.
Aside from the aforementioned functionality, the design of the Galaxy Note 7 is expected to come in at something between last year’s Galaxy Note 6 release and the Galaxy S7, which was announced and released earlier this year. However, Samsung is also likely to provide the Galaxy Note 7 with its own design quirks too.
Whilst the Galaxy Note 7 is likely to be a huge focus for Samsung in August, it’s likely that the Note 7 won’t be the only device to make an appearance at Samsung’s product announcement in August. Samsung typically uses their August/September presentation to unveil their other upcoming products. Likely to make an appearance at this August’s presentation is the Samsung Gear S3, the company’s latest smartwatch, in which Samsung will be looking to rival the Apple Watch.
At the same time, Samsung is likely to use the event as an opportunity to show off a new tablet. Their latest Android tablet iteration, the Galaxy Tab S2, was released alongside the Galaxy Note 6 in September, 2015, meaning Samsung’s tablet line-up is similarly due a refresh and that’s something we’ll likely see this year.
